Abstract

Box lock hinge in a forceps type surgical instrument in which the internal member has a 'Teflon' bearing sleeve fitted in the holes to receive the hinge pin. The hinge pin is fitted and axially compressed to lock the pin in pla ce. The 'Teflon' bearing allows expansion of the bearing pin without locking the hinge. The assembly is sterilisable by heat and provides a long life. low friction, hinge.
