Abstract
The burner (20) assembly defines a fuel passage, with a fuel receiving inlet (28) at one end. An enclosure extends over the fuel passage for receiving air, which is directed from the enclosure toward the outlet in two radially spaced parallel paths (42,44) around the fuel passage. Sorbent is injected into the radially outer path at the outlet for capturing the sulphur combustion products. - The air flowing through each path is pref. regulated and the sorbent pre-pulverised and transported with air, steam or as a slurry. The fuel discharging the passage can be split so that a series of flame patterns are produced.
