Abstract

PURPOSE: To freely change effective compression ratio by changing the oil exhaust quantity from working chamber of an exhaust valve corresponding to the load condition of the engine. CONSTITUTION: A working plunger 10 of exhaust valve is arranged in a cylinder 4 defining a working chamber. A first diaphragm rim 25 and a second diaphragm rim 26 are arranged in the cylinder 4, a working chamber 27 between the two diaphragms 25, 26 is connected through duct 28 including a regulative throttle valve 29 to oil outlet 23. The throttle valve is regulated corresponding to the load conditions of the engine. Therefore, all the open time of the exhaust valve can be controlled and the effective compression ratio can freely be changed.
