Brennkraftmaschine, mit einem Zylinderkurbelgehäuse, in dem eine Kurbelwelle gelagert ist, mit mindestens einer mehrere Zylinder aufweisenden Zylinderbank, wobei jeder Zylinder eine Zündkerze zum Zünden zu verbrennenden Kraftstoffs aufweist, wobei jeder Zylinder einen Zylinderkopf mit mindestens einem einlassseitigen Gaswechselventil und mit mindestens einem auslassseitigen Gaswechselventil aufweist, wobei jeder Zylinder einen Kipphebelkasten (10) zur Aufnahme von Kipphebeln eines Ventiltriebs für die Gaswechselventile aufweist, und wobei jeder Zylinder einen Kipphebeldeckel (11) aufweist, der relativ zum Kipphebelkasten schwenkbar ist. Der Kipphebeldeckel trägt eine Zündspule (13) für die Zündkerze des Zylinders, die mit der Zündkerze über eine sich durch ein Schutzrohr (15) zwischen dem Zylinderkopf und dem Kipphebelkasten (10) oder dem Kipphebeldeckel (11) des Zylinders erstreckende Zündkerzenverlängerung (14) kontaktierbar ist.
