Pour éviter des usinages et montages supplémentaires, on peut prévoir que les profils de guide et de coulisseau présentent, à l'avance, des trous de fixation des plaques 8 de montage de roue, des corps de cliquet 11, des pièces porte aimant 18 et des ensembles coulissants 7, disposés symétriquement par rapport au milieu du profil, de sorte que chaque profil puisse être utilisé indifféremment pour le côté droit ou le côté gauche du fauteuil.
Par ailleurs un frein usuel de grande roue de fauteuil, peut être monté en un emplacement pertinent du coulisseau.
Chaque ensemble guide-coulisseau peut être monté facilement sur un côté du fauteuil roulant, après dépose de sa grande roue, par simple montage puis serrage des mâchoires de fixation 5 sur une partie tubulaire horizontale du châssis de ce fauteuil, dans une position dans laquelle la portée ou palier de roue 9 se trouve à proximité du palier de roue du châssis. Il suffit ensuite de monter la roue dans le palier 9 et le dispositif est prêt à l'utilisation.
Lorsque, le dispositif selon l'invention étant monté sur le fauteuil roulant les roues étant en position normale de roulement et le cliquet 13 encliqueté dans le trou 16 avant, l'utilisateur soulève la poignée 14, ou les deux poignées 14 s'il veut reculer les deux roues,. Il peut alors actionner manuellement la roue ou les roues vers l'arrière jusqu'à l'encliquetage en position reculée, la roue ne formant alors plus d'obstacle dur le côté de l'assise du fauteuil. Pour ramener la ou les roues vers l'avant il procède de la même façon, en tournant la roue en sens inverse.
On se réfère aux Figures 5 et 6.
Le cliquet représenté comporte une patte 22 horizontale solidaire de la tige 13 guidé par la fente verticale du corps 12, qui empêche sa rotation et don le coté 23 faisant face à la pièce 18, est biseauté vers le haut. Dans un trou pratiqué dans la pièce 18 est guidée horizontalement une petite tige d'encliquetage 24 repoussée vers la tige 13 par un petit ressort 26 jusque dans la position représentée sur les figures où une tête de tige 25 butte contre la pièce 18. L'autre extrémité de la tige 24 est arrondie et, dans cette position, se trouve verticalement au-dessus du biseau de la patte 22 (Fig. 5). Lorsque l'utilisateur tire la poignée et la tige 13 vers le haut, la face biseautée de la patte22 repousse la tige de maintien 24 à l'encontre de son ressort, puis, une fois la patte 22 suffisamment élevée, la tige 24 est repoussée par son ressort, ce qui empêche la patte 22, et donc la tige 13 de descendre (Fig. 6). L'utilisateur peut alors lâcher la poignée 14 et manoeuvrer la roue du fauteuil pour faire coulisser le coulisseau 6, qui porte le cliquet 13, de sorte que la patte 22 s'éloigne horizontalement de la tige de maintien24 et se trouve alors repoussé vers la surface 17 du guide 1, sur laquelle elle glisse jusqu'à ce qu'elle rencontre l'autre trou 16, dans lequel elle s'encliquète. Conformément à l'invention, la tige 24 se trouve à une distance verticale suffisante de l'aile horizontale du coulisseau 6 pour que, lorsque l'extrémité inférieure du cliquet 13 glisse sur la pièce de glissement 17 lors du mouvement du coulisseau 6, la patte 22 puisse passer sous la tige 24 sans la heurter, à l'approche du trou 16.
La patte 22 peut être remplacée par une rondelle de surface supérieure conique, et d'un diamètre suffisant pour qu'en position haute, elle ne puisse retomber que lorsque la tige 13 est nettement décalée horizontalement par rapport au trou 16.
Le dispositif de maintien peut, en variante, présenter un cliquet de maintien en position haute, sous forme d'une simple lame élastique fixée au niveau de la partie 18, et convenablement recourbée por laisser monter une patte ou rondelle de cliquet 13, puis empêcher sa descente spontanée sous l'action du ressort de rappel 15, ou simplement du poids du cliquet 13, si l'on ne prévoit pas un tel ressort.Dans les exemples représentés l'ensemble selon l'invention peut être monté sur le côté du châssis du fauteuil, à l'extérieur de celui-ci. On peut également prévoir qu'il puisse être monté à l'intérieur du châssis, par exemple simplement en intervertissant les ensembles droit et gauche. Dans ce cas on peut prévoir une forme de poignée dépassant latéralement vers l'extérieur du côté du fauteuil, pour être facilement accessible à l'utilisateur assis dans le fauteuil.

When, the device according to the invention being mounted on the wheelchair with the wheels in the normal rolling position and the pawl 13 snapped into the front hole 16, the user raises the handle 14, or both handles 14 if he wants back both wheels. He can then manually actuate the wheel or the wheels backwards until the latch in the retracted position, the wheel then forming no hard obstacle to the side of the seat of the chair. To return the wheel or wheels forward it proceeds in the same way, turning the wheel in the opposite direction.
We refer to Figures 5 and 6 .
The pawl shown comprises a horizontal tab 22 secured to the rod 13 guided by the vertical slot of the body 12, which prevents its rotation and don the side 23 facing the piece 18, is beveled upwards. In a hole made in the part 18 is guided horizontally a small latching rod 24 pushed towards the rod 13 by a small spring 26 to the position shown in the figures where a rod head 25 abuts against the piece 18. The other end of the rod 24 is rounded and, in this position, is vertically above the bevel of the tab 22 ( Fig. 5 ). When the user pulls the handle and the rod 13 upwards, the beveled face of the tab 22 pushes the holding rod 24 against its spring, then, once the lug 22 is sufficiently high, the rod 24 is pushed back. by its spring, which prevents the tab 22, and therefore the rod 13 to go down ( Fig. 6 ). The user can then release the handle 14 and operate the wheel of the chair to slide the slide 6, which carries the pawl 13, so that the tab 22 moves away horizontally from the holding rod 24 and is then pushed towards the surface 17 of the guide 1, on which it slides until it meets the other hole 16, in which it snaps. According to the invention, the rod 24 is at a sufficient vertical distance from the horizontal flange of the slider 6 so that, when the lower end of the pawl 13 slides on the slider 17 during the movement of the slider 6, the leg 22 can pass under the rod 24 without striking it, near the hole 16.
The tab 22 may be replaced by a conical upper surface washer, and of sufficient diameter so that in the high position, it can only fall when the rod 13 is clearly offset horizontally with respect to the hole 16.
The holding device may, in a variant, have a retaining pawl in the high position, in the form of a simple elastic blade fixed at the level of the part 18, and suitably bent to allow a ratchet lug or washer 13 to rise, and then prevent its spontaneous descent under the action of the return spring 15, or simply the weight of the pawl 13, if one does not provide such a spring.In the examples shown the assembly according to the invention can be mounted on the side of the chassis of the chair, outside of it. It can also be provided that it can be mounted inside the frame, for example simply by swapping the right and left sets. In this case we can provide a handle shape protruding laterally outward side of the chair, to be easily accessible to the user sitting in the chair.

Claims (15)

  1. An assembly or kit which can be mounted on a hand driven wheel chair for a person with motor disability, which comprises a frame or chassis, a seat, front wheels or rollers and hand driven large diameter rear wheels which can be immobilized by wheel brakes, said assembly comprising two telescopic components, namely a substantially horizontal guide (1) and a telescopic wheel slide (6) comprising, at its rear end, a portion (8) on which the rear wheel can be mounted and which is movable along the guide (1) between an advanced normal running location and a retracted location which protrudes from the rear end of the guide (1) and where the rear wheel does no more project into the side of the seat, hand operable devices for immobilizing the slide at said advanced location and at said retracted location, said immobilizing devices comprising one or several ratchets (13) exhibited by one component, and one or several depressions or holes (16) exhibited by the other component, wherein the ratchet(s) (13) is (are) brought back in order to click into the holes (16) of the other component when the slide (6) is located in advanced or retracted location while still being manually operable by the user to be backed out from the hole (16), characterized in that said assembly further comprises a holding device (20, 24) located at the hole (16) level to hold the ratchet (13) in free position and release the ratchet (13) when the movement of the slide (6) moves it away from the related hole (16) and accordingly from the holding device (20, 24), whereby the ratchet (13) is pushed back toward the other component and can automatically enter the hole (16) it meets during the movement of the slide (6).
  2. An assembly according to claim 1, characterized in that the holding device (20) is a magnetic device with magnet holding the ratchet (13) in its free position, and releasing it when the telescopic slide (6) moves away from the related hole (16).
  3. An assembly according to claim 1, characterized in that the holding device (24) is a mechanical locking device holding the ratchet (13) in its free position, wherein the movement of the telescopic slide moves the ratchet (13) away from its locking device (24) whereby it is released.
  4. An assembly according to claim 2, characterized in that the magnet (20) can hold the ratchet (13) in free position, and in that the magnetic device also comprises a ferromagnetic portion (21) which is hold by the magnet as the ratchet is manually released, wherein the translational movement of the slide tangentially removes the magnet (20) from the ferromagnetic portion (21) and disengages the ratchet which is then elastically pushed back.
  5. An assembly according to claim 4, characterized in that the ratchet (13) bears the ferromagnetic portion (21), and the hole or holes (16) exhibiting component bears, at the hole level, one or several magnets (20) to hold the ratchet (13) in its free position.
  6. An assembly according to claim 1, characterized in that it comprises a ratchet guidance body (11) in which a sliding ratchet (13) is biased by a spring (15) toward the hole (16) exhibiting component, wherein the ratchet exhibits a ferromagnetic lug or washer (21) which abuts against a magnet (20) on the axial release move of the ratchet, wherein a click rod (24) is elastically pushed back under said lug or washer (21) to prevent the ratchet (13) to return to the hole (16).
  7. An assembly according to claim 2, characterized in that the components (1,6) are profiles comprising a vertical web section and a wing section, with a telescopic device (7) mounted between the two web sections, wherein the web section of one component, especially the guide (6), exhibits two immobilizing holes (16) toward its two ends as well as a magnet or ferromagnetic portion supporting piece (18) at the level of each hole (16), and the wing section of the other component, especially the slide (6), exhibits a ratchet guidance body (11) in which the sliding ratchet (13) is biased by a spring (15) toward the wing section of the hole exhibiting component, wherein the ratchet exhibits a ferromagnetic lug (21) which can be hold by the magnet (20) as the ratchet is pulled against the spring.
  8. An assembly according to one of claims 1 and 3, characterized in that it comprises a ratchet guidance body (11) in which a sliding ratchet (13) is biased by a spring (15) toward the hole (16) exhibiting component, wherein the ratchet (13) exhibits a lug or washer (22) with a bevelled or tapered surface which is able to push back a click rod (24) on the axial ratchet releasing move, said click rod (24) being elastically repelled under said lug or washer (22) to prevent the ratchet (13) to return to the hole (16).
  9. An assembly according to claim 8, characterized in that said click rod (24) slides toward the ratchet (13) within a piece or portion (18) of the component (1) which exhibits the hole (16).
  10. An assembly according to one of claims 1 to 9, characterized in that the slide (6) bears only one ratchet (13) and the guide (1) has immobilizing holes for advanced and retracted locations, wherein the ratchet (13) slips on the guide (1) between the holes, the guide (1) exhibiting, at the level of each hole (16), the holding device (20, 24) which holds the ratchet (13) in free position once the user actuated the ratchet (13).
  11. An assembly according to one of claims 1 to 10, characterized in that the sliding ratchet (13) is mounted in a substantially vertical position.
  12. An assembly according to one of claims 1 to 11, characterized in that the depressions or holes (16) are formed in an elongated slip plate (17) supported by the relative component, especially the guide, wherein the ratchet (13) slips on the plate (17) when the slide (6) is moving.
  13. An assembly according to one of claims 1 to 12, characterized in that the components (1, 6) are made in a nonmagnetic material, especially aluminium.
  14. An assembly according to one of claims 1 to 13, characterized in that it comprises a rear wheel brake which moves with the wheel slide (6), and allows to immobilize the rear wheel at any location of the wheel slide (6) along the guide (1).
  15. A kit comprising two assemblies according to one of claims 1 to 14, arranged to be mounted on the right, respectively on the left of a chassis of a wheel chair.
