Abstract
An elastomeric pillow (1) includes a concave top surface (11); a bottom surface (14) comprising a transverse groove (13) with two open ends; and a hollow (12) for circulation being in communication with the top surface (11) and the groove (13). The hollow (12) is not centered with respect to each of the groove (13) and the top surface (11).
Description
- The invention relates to pillows and more particularly to a hollow pillow having a concave top and a grooved bottom with improved characteristics including enhanced circulation.
- Pillow is a large cushion support for the head, usually used while sleeping in a bed, or for the body as used on a couch or chair. Pillows with novel filler for improving health (i.e., health pillows) are commercially available. However, their health effects are not well proved.
- The inventor is aware of the above problem and a need for an improved pillow. The inventor thus spends a lot of time to device a health pillow in order to contribute significantly to the advancement of the art.
- It is therefore one object of the invention to provide an elastomeric pillow comprising a concave top surface; a bottom surface comprising a transverse groove having two open ends; and a hollow for communicating with the top surface and the groove, wherein the hollow is not centered with respect to each of the groove and the top surface.
- The above and other objects, features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following detailed description taken with the accompanying drawings.
-
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a preferred embodiment of pillow according to the invention; -
FIG. 2 is another perspective view of the pillow being inverted; -
FIG. 3A is an environmental view of the pillow with back of a head of a person being rested on the hollow while sleeping in a bed; -
FIG. 3B is a schematic side elevation ofFIG. 3A showing flow of air through the hollow for circulation; -
FIG. 4A is an environmental view of the pillow with the back of the head of the person being rested between the hollow and one side of the pillow while sleeping in a bed; -
FIG. 4B is a schematic side elevation ofFIG. 4A ; -
FIG. 5 is an environmental view of the pillow with one cheek of the person being rested between the hollow and one side of the pillow while sleeping in a bed; -
FIG. 6 is an environmental view of the pillow with the other cheek of the person being rested between the hollow and one side of the pillow while sleeping in a bed; -
FIG. 7 is an environmental view of the pillow showing a turning of the head of the person while sleeping in a bed; -
FIG. 8A is an environmental view of the pillow with face of the person being rested on the hollow while sleeping in a bed; and -
FIG. 8B is a schematic side elevation ofFIG. 8A showing flow of air through the hollow for circulation. - Referring to
FIGS. 1 to 8B , apillow 1 in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention comprises the following components as discussed in detail below. - The
pillow 1 is made of an elastomeric material (e.g., elastomer). Thepillow 1 comprises aconcave top surface 11 having curved front and rear ends, atransverse groove 13 on a flat bottom surface 14, thegroove 13 having two open ends, and a hollow 12 of substantially rectangular section in communication with thetop surface 11 and thegroove 13. The hollow 12 is not centered with respect to each of thegroove 13 and thetop surface 11, i.e., the hollow 12 being off center. - Referring to
FIGS. 3A and 3B specifically, a person A may have back of the head A1 rested on the hollow 12 and the face A2 facing upward while sleeping in a bed (not shown). It also shows flow of air through the hollow 12 for circulation. It is contemplated by the invention that a good sleep can be rendered. - Referring to
FIGS. 4A and 4B specifically, the person A may have the back of the head A1 rested between the hollow 12 and one side of thetop surface 11 and the face A2 facing upward while sleeping in a bed (not shown). It is contemplated by the invention that a good sleep can be rendered. - Referring to
FIGS. 5 and 6 specifically, the person A may have one cheek rested between the hollow 12 and one side of thetop surface 11 and the face A2 facing the other side of thetop surface 11 while sleeping in a bed (not shown). It is contemplated by the invention that a good sleep can be rendered. - Referring to
FIG. 7 specifically, it shows a 90-degree turning of the head A1 while sleeping in a bed with the face A2 facing upward being changed into facing the other side of thetop surface 11. It is contemplated by the invention that a good sleep can be rendered. - Referring to
FIGS. 8A and 8B specifically, the person A may have the face A2 rested on the hollow 12 while sleeping in a bed (not shown). It also shows flow of air through the hollow 12 for circulation. It is contemplated by the invention that a good sleep can be rendered. - While the invention herein disclosed has been described by means of specific embodiments, numerous modifications and variations could be made thereto by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention set forth in the claims.
