Gemäß der Erfindung wird diese Aufgabe von einem Seitenfaltenbeutel nach dem Oberbegriff des Anspruchs 1 ausgehend mit den kennzeichnenden Merkmalen des Anspruchs 1 gelöst. Damit wird der Vorteil gewahrt, dass die mit einem Wiederverschluss ausgestattete Öffnung dadurch auszuweiten ist, daß die Hauptwände und die daran angebrachten Verschlusselemente zumindest an einer Seite frei auseinander zu bewegen sind und dass die an dieser Seite eingefaltete Seitenfaltenwand auseinanderbewegt werden kann und damit eine entsprechend breite oder, bei Ausstülpen der Seitenfaltenwand nach außen, die Öffnung über die Breite der Hauptwände hinweg zu vergrößern erlaubt. Die so zu erzielenden größere und auch glattflächigere Ausgabe- oder Entnahmeöffnung ist bei der Handhabung regelmäßig vorteilhaft und zwar auch dann, wenn der Inhalt des Seitenfaltenbeutels rieselfähig ist. Herkömmliche Seitenfaltenbeutel sind auch dann schon bei eingefalteten oder in die Öffnung hineinragenden Seitenfaltenwänden nicht einfach schnell und sauber zu entleeren. Die nach außen ausfaltbare Seitenfaltenwand liefert demgegenüber eine vergrößerte Öffnung und glatte Flächen für ein Ausschütten.
