Abstract
Description
Verfahren zur Herstellung eines gewebten Gurtbandes Method of making a woven webbing
The present invention relates to a method for producing a woven webbing, in particular for seat belts for vehicles, in particular motor vehicles, with warp threads and at least one weft thread.
Processes for the production of such webbings and the disadvantages of webbings produced in this way are known in many variations. As a rule, the warp threads of these tapes consist of multifilament yarns. Multi-filament yarns alone, monofilament yarns alone or mixtures of monofilament and multifilament yarns are used as the weft thread or several weft threads. A webbing with weft material exclusively made of multifilament yarn has the disadvantage that it has almost no transverse stiffness and elasticity. Belt straps with weft threads made from monofilament material have the desired transverse stiffness and elasticity. In addition, however, they have the disadvantage that the monofoot weft at its so-called weft reversal points in the edge area of the webbing emerges after a certain number of abrasion processes as a sawtooth-sharp edge and can cause damage to the clothing of passengers or injuries to the upper body and neck area of passengers. In addition, webbing with monofilament weft material is comparatively too thick compared to webbing made of pure multifilament material.
The invention has for its object to propose a method for producing a woven webbing, in which the disadvantages known from the prior art are avoided or at least greatly reduced.
The object is achieved with a method according to claim 1. This method has the advantage that the processing of the multifilament yarn in the weft can be achieved in a positive manner Enable structures of the binding points in the tissue. Each individual fibril of the multifilament yarn consists of a core covered with a meltable skin. This yarn, hereinafter referred to as "two-component yarn", is woven in the weft and forms flexible, elliptical and flat-lying tie points when the warp threads close. This cannot be achieved with monofilament games. In the fixing process following the weaving, the multifilament yarn is heated according to the invention, the fibrils of the multifilament yarn sticking to one another by melting the meltable skin and the multifilament yarn in undulated form fuses into a monofilament-like, spring-elastic, uniform yarn body and thus contributes to the transverse rigidity of the tape.
The described process for changing the mechanical properties - to achieve the desired transverse stiffness and elasticity - follows in undulated form of the threads, i.e. the thickness of the woven tape is less and the tape surface formed by the warp threads is smoother because the heads of the binding points are less steep.
As already indicated above, an elliptically flattened, soft weft reversal point is created in the edge area in the manufacture of a webbing according to the invention due to the multifilament yarn construction made of warp and weft threads. An injury to the band edges caused by abrasion of the selvedge does not lead to the feared sawtooth effect known from the prior art and its possible negative consequences.
In an advantageous development of the method according to the invention, the multifilament or its external fibrils are additionally glued at the binding points with the warp threads crossing them during the heat setting, whereby an even higher transverse stability of the webbing can be achieved.
In a further advantageous development of the method according to the invention, polyamide is used for the skin and polyester for the core. This results in an optimally harmonizing material pairing in the webbing.
In a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, polyester is used for the multifilament of the weft thread both for the skin and for the core. This also has a great advantage in that it results in better recyclability. In this case, the polyester skin advantageously consists of a modified polyester. In the case of the textile surface produced with the two-component yarn after thermal treatment at approximately 220.degree. C. according to the invention, the individual fibrils stick together in such a way that a monofilament yarn body with the mechanical properties (spring elasticity, low fluffiness, stiffness) of a monofilament yarn in the weft thread is achieved. This combines all the positive features of multifilament yarn and monofilament yarn in the process according to the invention and the resulting product.
Of course, the method according to the invention is applicable to all known types of webbing. The advantages that can now be achieved for the first time are obvious: low thickness of the webbing, smoother surface of the webbing surfaces, soft weft reversals in the edge area, spring elasticity, transverse rigidity and impeccable surface quality.
Multifilament yarns are advantageously used as weft threads, the mass ratio of skin to core of which is in the range from approximately 20% to 80% to approximately 30% to 70%.
