Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to a closure device for window leaves.
- It is known that in several models of windows, particularly made of aluminum, operators in the field feel the need to have leaf closure devices which have the characteristic that they can be fitted on the leaves when the leaves are already installed in their final working seat. Moreover, owing to the considerable variety of windows currently commercially available, the closure devices must also be provided with adjustment mechanisms in order to allow the engagement of the bolts in the respective selvages that are provided in the frame of the window.
- The aim of the present invention is to meet the above-cited requirements of operators assigned to casement installation work that are noted with many of the conventional devices, i.e., to provide a closure device for window leaves which can be adapted to many of the currently commercially available profiled elements, be safe in use and effective in operation.
- Within this aim, an object of the present invention is to provide a structure which is simple, relatively easy to provide in practice, and relatively low in cost.
- These and other objects which will become better apparent hereinafter, are achieved by the present closure device for a window leaf, said device being of the type that can slide along a channel of an abutment post of said leaf, characterized in that it comprises a slider which is connected to at least two sliding blocks which can slide in said channel through means which are adapted to adjust the distance between said slider and said sliding blocks and a bolt supporting plate which is connected to said slider by means which are adapted to adjust the position of said plate on said slider at right angles to the plane of said leaf.
- Further characteristics and advantages will become better apparent from the following detailed description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of a closure device for window leaves according to the present invention, illustrated only by way of non-limitative example in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
- Figure 1 is an exploded perspective view of the device;
- Figure 2 is a top view of the device;
- Figure 3 is a sectional side view, taken along the plane III-III of Figure 2;
- Figure 4 is a sectional front view, taken along the plane IV-IV;
- Figure 5 is a sectional front view, taken along the plane V-V.
-
- With reference to the above figures, the reference numeral 1 generally designates an abutment post of a leaf on which the closure device according to the present invention is mounted.
- The device is of the type that can slide along a channel 2 of the post 1. The channel 2 has two lateral retention undercuts 3, and two
sliding blocks 4 slide therein; the sliding blocks are provided withlateral wings 5 which are adapted to engage theundercuts 3. Thesliding blocks 4 are inserted in twotransverse grooves 7 of theslider 6 and are connected to theslider 6 byscrews 8 which, as will become apparent hereinafter, allow to adjust the distance between thesliding blocks 4 and theslider 6. - The
slider 6 has, at eachgroove 7, two protrusions 9 in which flared regions 9a for accommodating the head of thescrews 8 are provided. Aplate 10 is coupled to theslider 6, and apivot 11 is rigidly coupled to one end of the plate and constitutes the bolt of the device. - The coupling between the
slider 6 and theplate 10 is achieved by the engagement of the protrusions 9 intransverse recesses 12 of theplate 10, so as to provide adjustment means which lie transversely to the direction of the sliding of theslider 6 in the channel 2 of the leaf. Theplate 10 is fixed to theslider 6 by means ofscrews 13 which pass through a first pair oftransverse slots 14 of theplate 10 and engage corresponding threadedholes 15 of theslider 6. Theslots 14 are parallel to therecesses 12 and to an additional pair oftransverse slots 16 formed in the bottom of therecesses 12. - The
slots 16 allow the access of a suitable tool (screwdriver) to thescrews 8 for connecting thesliding blocks 4 to theslider 6, but do not allow the passage of the head of thescrews 8, which accordingly remain retained between theslider 6 and theplate 10. Moreover, in theplate 10 anadditional slot 17 is provided which lies between the twoslots 14 and has alateral opening 18 so as to allow the passage of a pivot (not shown) which protrudes from the post of the second leaf of the window and which, in the position in which the leaves are closed, engages theslot 17 when theslider 6 and theplate 10 are actuated so as to slide in the channel 2. - Finally, a
tang 19 is fixed on theslider 6 and is rigidly coupled to an end which lies opposite the one adjacent to thebolt 11; the tang is adapted to engage in acorresponding hole 20 of anactuation rod 21 which is connected to the handle for opening and closing the leaf. - The assembly and the operation of the above-described device are fully evident from the above description.
- In particular, the adjustment of the
bolt 11 in the X direction with respect to the post 1, i.e., on the plane of the leaf, is provided by acting on thescrews 8 with the screwdriver inserted through theslots 16 of theplate 10. The axial offset of thebolt 11 in the Y direction is controlled by loosening thescrews 13 and moving theplate 10 parallel to itself by means of the sliding coupling of the protrusions 9 in therecesses 12. The subsequent tightening of thescrews 13, in addition to fixing theplates 10 to theslider 6, locks the heads of thescrews 8, ensuring the positioning of theslider 6 in the X direction. It should be observed that when the first leaf, which supports the bolt 1, closes onto the second leaf, thebolt 11 engages in the corresponding selvage 22 provided in the window frame and at the same time theopen slot 17 and the corresponding pivot rigidly coupled to said second leaf of the window couple to each other. - The disclosures in Italian Utility Model Application No. BO99U000077 from which this application claims priority are incorporated herein by reference.
- Where technical features mentioned in any claim are followed by reference signs, those reference signs have been included for the sole purpose of increasing the intelligibility of the claims and accordingly, such reference signs do not have any limiting effect on the interpretation of each element identified by way of example by such reference signs.
