Description

The present invention relates to a device for physical therapy of the back muscles according to the preamble of claim 1.

Back pain is a common nuisance, which is usually caused by incorrect posture. Many other physical ailments also originate from incorrect posture. For most patients, this stems from tight or poorly developed back muscles.
With targeted gymnastics exercises are therefore attempted to relieve tension in the back muscles and to strengthen them again. Large balls or other aids are usually used for therapeutic gymnastics. However, gymnastics exercises and the gymnastics or therapy aids used for this have the disadvantage that the patient hardly trains painful areas or tightens in the process. If the equipment is used improperly, the patient's physical incorrect posture can be increased instead of improved. Even if the tools are handled properly, the healing process takes place in small, slow steps.

Furthermore, various massage techniques are known that strengthen the back muscles. Other therapy methods are acupuncture and acupressure. Such therapies must, however, be carried out by a trained specialist and are costly and time-consuming for the patient.

It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a device for physical therapy of the human back muscles, which overcomes the above-mentioned disadvantages, is adapted to the patient and which can be used by the patient without outside help.

This object is achieved by a device for the physical therapy of the human back muscles, which is characterized in that the device has a lying mat and at least one pressing body which projects above a lying surface of the lying mat and is held in or on the lying mat, the position of the pressing body on the lying mat being changeable is.

The patient generally does not perform any active gymnastics exercises on the device according to the invention, so that he cannot move incorrectly and also cannot spare any painful areas. With the device according to the invention, a strengthening of the back muscles is achieved, the stretch muscles in particular being trained. In addition, internal organs are stimulated by the pressure.

The at least one pressure or pressure body is positioned on the mat depending on the size and also on the patient's complaints. The number of impression bodies and their mutual position is selected depending on the patient. Furthermore, the positioning and the number of Pressurized body adapted to the progress of therapy. In a preferred embodiment, the pressure bodies can be arranged on the lying mat over a surface which is defined by the distance between the gluteus muscle and the neck muscle of a person to be treated.

The device according to the invention thus allows therapy of the back muscles from the large gluteal muscle to the upper neck muscle, the entire back area or only partial areas thereof being treated, depending on the number and position of the pressure bodies used.

In a preferred embodiment, a neck support is provided to increase lying comfort. This is preferably part of the mat or it can be attached to it.
In a preferred embodiment, this neck support is used for therapy. For this purpose it is provided with neck pressure bodies which are firmly integrated in the neck support or which, like the pressure body of the lying mat, can be changed in their position with respect to the neck support and their mutual position. This neck support serves to actuate various switching points of the nervous system. In a preferred embodiment, the angle of inclination of the neck support can be changed in order to be able to reach switching points in the neck area that are difficult to access. After previous and successful therapy, the neck support can also be used on the lying mat without this lying mat for further treatment.

The device according to the invention for the physical therapy of the human back muscles according to FIGS. 1 and 2 has a lying mat 1 and at least one pressure or pressure body 2, which projects above a lying surface of the lying mat 1.

The lying mat 1 is preferably made of elastic plastic, rubber or polystyrene. It has several pressurized body receptacles 10 which are arranged distributed over the lying surface, wherein they extend over at least one surface which is defined by the distance between the gluteus muscle and the neck muscle of a person to be treated.
Along a central longitudinal axis 12 of the lying surface, the adjacent molded body receptacles 10 arranged on both sides of the longitudinal axis 12 are at a greater distance from one another so that the lying mat 1 has a pressure-free body in this area for unloaded, pressure-free absorption of the spine.

The distribution of the pressurized body receptacles 10 in the lying mat 1 depends on the intended use of the therapy device. A symmetrical distribution has proven its worth, the impression body receptacles 10 being arranged in the longitudinal 1 as well as in the transverse direction q of the lying mat 1 in parallel, equally spaced rows and also within the row at the same distance from the adjacent impression body receptacle. In this example there are four to six die bodies in the transverse direction q and eight in the longitudinal direction 1.

Preferably, the impression body receptacles 10 are formed by cylindrical, as shown here, or hemispherical recesses.
The associated impression body 2 are individual balls. The balls preferably have a diameter d of 5-10 cm. The balls have a relatively hard surface and can preferably not be pressed together by resting a patient with an average body weight. The balls are preferably solid, they are therefore not hollow. Proven materials for manufacturing the balls are plastics, wood or metal.

Each impression body 2 is held in an impression body receptacle 10. The diameter of the recess of the impression body receptacle 10 preferably corresponds to that of the impression body 2, so that only half of the ball stands above the lying surface. The distances a between the Pressurized body receptacles on both sides of the web free of the pressed body are preferably many times smaller than the diameter of the pressed body, in this example they are 1-3 cm.

In further embodiments not shown here, the impression bodies have other, preferably curved shapes, the impression body receptacles being shaped accordingly. In one embodiment, several curved shapes are combined to form a single, continuous pressure body, for example in the form of a mat with several hemispherical elevations, which can be fastened in a holder of the lying mat. This is advantageous if, due to certain complaints, it makes sense to always treat a certain area of the back muscles together.
In further embodiments, molded bodies with different shapes are present together on the same mat. In particular, spherical impression bodies have different diameters, the size of the impression body receptacles being suitable for receiving the largest balls. The smaller balls are inserted into the impression body receptacles using separate insert elements.
In other embodiments, the individual impression bodies have different hardnesses or their hardness can be varied. Different balls are identified, for example, by means of different colors. The embodiments mentioned here can be combined with one another as desired.

The device for physical therapy according to the invention further comprises a neck support 3 which supports the neck of the patient. In the simplest case, it is a known type of neck support. The neck support 3 shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, on the other hand, can be attached to the lying mat 1 and is shaped like a cuboid. The neck support has neck pressure body 4, which are designed in the same way as the pressure body 2 of the lying mat 1 described above, but have smaller dimensions. The neck pressure bodies are preferably 4 balls with a diameter of 1-4 cm. Cylindrical or hemispherical neck impression body receptacles 30 are arranged in the neck support 3, so that the position of the neck impression body 4 can be changed. The neck support with the neck pressure bodies is used for physical therapy of the neck muscles, especially the extensor muscles.

Als Anschlag dienen die unteren Kanten des Wippenbalkens 31, da bei maximal möglichem Schwenkwinkel jeweils eine davon auf dem Wippensockel 30 aufsteht, wie dies in der Figur 4b ersichtlich ist.FIGS. 3, 4a and 4b show a further embodiment of a neck support 3, the angle of inclination of which can be changed. This beam-shaped neck support 3 has essentially the shape of a seesaw. It consists of a U-shaped rocker base 30 and a cuboid rocker beam 31. The impression bodies 4 are embedded on the upper surface of the rocker beam 31. In this embodiment, they are firmly connected to the rocker beam 31. Furthermore, pivot axes 32 protrude from two opposite end faces of the seesaw beam 31. The rocker beam 31 lies on the rocker base 30, these pivot axes 32 being held in corresponding grooves 33 in the rocker base 30, as a result of which the rocker beam 31 can be pivoted with respect to the rocker base 30. The lower edges of the rocker beam 31 serve as a stop, since at the maximum possible swivel angle one of them on the Rocker base 30 stands up, as can be seen in FIG. 4b.

For the therapy of the back and neck muscles, the patient lies down on the lying mat 1 so that the spine lies in the path free of the pressure body. Depending on the nature of his complaints, the impression body 2 has been placed in suitable places in the impression body receptacles 10 and, if appropriate, the neck support 3 has also been fastened and provided with neck impression bodies 4. The positioning mat 1 is preferably provided with positioning aids for the exact positioning of the pressing body and the neck pressing body 2, 4. Such positioning aids are, for example, the path free of the pressure body, which defines the position of the spine. However, positioning aids are also not shown here, which mark the position of certain human body parts or represent the outlines of differently sized human bodies.

The patient lies quietly on the mat during therapy, with the impression body not moving. Due to gravity, the patient's body is pressed onto the impression body. The pressure stretches the extensor muscles of the back and neck muscles and stimulates the internal organs, whereby individual extensor muscles or organs are treated specifically by positioning the pressure body appropriately.
