Definitions
- the present invention relates to a damping flywheel arranged between two coaxial rotating assemblies, one of which is intended to be connected to the internal combustion engine of a powertrain, in particular of a motor vehicle, and the other of which is intended to be connected to the input shaft of this group's gearbox powertrain.
- the invention relates in particular to a damping flywheel of the type of that described and represented in document FR-A-2 687 442 which has first and second coaxial rotating elements generally in the form of parallel plates which define between them a sealed annular housing, delimited for the most part by the first rotating element and arranged radially towards the exterior, which receives an elastic circumferential damping device and a lubricating agent for this device, such as grease, and an annular space, arranged radially towards the interior, which receives at least one damping device at friction with axial action.
- first and second coaxial rotating elements generally in the form of parallel plates which define between them a sealed annular housing, delimited for the most part by the first rotating element and arranged radially towards the exterior, which receives an elastic circumferential damping device and a lubricating agent for this device, such as grease, and an annular space, arranged radially towards the interior, which receives at least one damping device at friction with axial action.
- the elastic damping device acts circumferentially between the two rotating elements, while that the friction damping device acts axially between the two rotating elements being located at the level of the bearing, such as a ball bearing or a plain bearing, interposed radially between the two rotating elements, usually consisting of masses, for their rotary mounting relative to each other.
- sealing means which include two washers coaxial seals each of which is supported by one of its faces against a first bearing surface associated with the first rotating element and by the other of its faces against a second bearing surface associated with the second rotating element.
- each of the bearing surfaces is formed by a seal annular O-ring arranged in an annular groove machined therein effect in a portion of the surface opposite one or the other of the two rotating elements and each washer is maintained radially by simple friction contact of its opposite sides with the two corresponding O-rings.
- the arrangement of the sealing means proposed in this document is particularly complex and expensive in that it uses many components, in that it requires provide for the machining of grooves of precise dimensions for the O-rings and that the assembly of the different components to ensure correct positioning washers between their corresponding seals is particularly difficult to implement and automate.
- each washer is mounted compressed axially between its two bearing surfaces and is susceptible to bear radially by one of its circular edges against a shoulder formed opposite on one of the two rotating elements.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a steering wheel damper of the type defined by the preamble of claim 1 and known from DE-A-3 721 712 ( Figure 20) whose structure sealing means of the annular housing is particularly simple and allows in particular to simplify the assembly of washers and the assembly of the various components.
- the invention proposes a damping flywheel, characterized in that the friction damping device has a part driven in rotation by the second element rotating through at least one head of a fixing one of the sealing washers to a disc annular of the second rotating element, and in that said disc is fixed to the second rotating element by a series of members of connection separate from the fixing members.
- the disc of the second rotating element form with its associated sealing washer a set manipulable, transportable and captive facilitating reduction parts storage and mounting the damper flywheel. This together also eliminates errors in what concerns the sealing washer to be fitted.
- the sealing washer is provided because it is not not fixed by the liaison bodies.
- the organ of fastening economically has a dual function allowing to spare the fixing of the disc for the benefit of a great robustness of the damping flywheel.
- the second rotating element is hollowed out to Avoid interference with the foot of the fasteners.
- the fixing members also allow to fix the second sealing washer to the disc of the second rotating element, said second sealing washer being pinched between the disc and the feet of the fasteners.
- damping flywheel 10 which is essentially constituted by a first element rotating 12 and a second rotating element 14, which are likely to rotate relative to each other around a X-X axis.
- the rotating elements 12,14 consist here, so known per se, in coaxial masses mounted mobile one by relation to the other against an elastic device cushioning 32 with circumferential action and a device friction damping 58 with axial action.
- the first element 12 here in the general shape of a tray, comprises an external toothed crown 16 intended to cooperate with a powertrain starter (not shown) and a central hub 18, made in one piece with the plate 12, intended to be fixed to the end of a crankshaft of the motor (not shown).
- the rotating element 12 essentially consists of a plate 20 and by a cylindrical peripheral annular skirt 22, axially oriented, which partially surrounds a skirt cylindrical peripheral annular 24, which extends axially the main plate-shaped part 26 of the element turning 14, which is rotatably mounted on the hub 18 by here through a ball bearing 28 or alternatively by another bearing, for example of the plain bearing type.
- the plates 20, 26 and the skirts 22 and 24 define a annular housing 30 which is designed to receive, according to a known design, the elastic damping device 32 constituted by a set of helical springs, here concentric, arranged in a crown.
- This housing 30 is delimited here mainly by the tray 20, the skirt 22 and a disc 34 of the first element turning 12.
- this housing reveals a slight slit into which a disc 42 of the second penetrates rotating element 14 and sealed as described below.
- the first rotating element 12 also includes the disc internal radial 34 which extends radially inwards from the skirt 22 between the two plates 20,26 in the direction an annular space 36 delimited between the portions of faces planes opposite 38 and 40 of the plates 20 and 26.
- the disc 34 is linked in rotation to the outer skirt 22 by sealed crimping as described in document FR-A-2 695 579.
- the skirt has a groove intended to receive the metal of the metallic disc 34, during the stamping of the latter.
- this waterproof fixing can be carried out by screwing as described in the document FR-A-2 687 442. Alternatively, riveting or welding.
- This disc 34 partially defines the housing 30, the plate 26 being hollowed out for housing the disc 34, which is locally stamped at 80, as visible in FIG. 1, for support of the circumferential ends of the helical springs of device 32.
- the plate 20 has plates 81 fixed by riveting (as visible in the lower part of Figure 1) for support of the ends of said springs.
- the second rotating element 14 also includes a disc interior 42 which is linked to it in rotation by rivets 44, and which extends radially in the annular space 36 and in the annular housing 30.
- the second rotating element 14 forms using its plate 26, in a manner known per se, the reaction plate of a clutch.
- this second element 14 is intended to be wedged in rotation on the input shaft of the gearbox by through a clutch friction disc, the friction pads are intended to be pinched between the reaction plate 26 and a pressure plate, not shown, belonging to a clutch mechanism intended by its cover to be attached by screws, one of which is visible in the upper part of figure 1 on the reaction plate 26.
- the outer edge 46 of the inner disc 42 has outer radial lugs 50 intended to serve as stops for spring ends of the elastic damping device 32.
- the springs bearing on the plates 81 and the stampings 82 of the disc 34, here by means of studs support 83 in a manner known per se, are intended to be compressed by the legs 50 entering the housing 30.
- anti-wear parts 82 here in the form of a chute, are interposed radially between the springs 32 and the skirt 22.
- the peripheral part of the disc 42 extends between a facing portion of surface 52 of plate 20 and a portion surface facing 54 of the internal radial disc 34 of the rotating element 12.
- the two washers 56A and 56B are two annular parts in cut and stamped sheet metal and therefore close the housing 30 at its internal periphery, said housing being partially filled with grease to lubricate the springs of the device 32.
- the radial edge outside of the washer 56A cooperates and is in elastic support against a bearing surface formed opposite in the tray 20 of the first rotating element 12, while the radial edge outside of the second sealing washer 56B cooperates and is in elastic support against a bearing surface formed opposite on the disc 34 of the first rotating element 12.
- the washers 56A and 56B are arranged according to the invention of on either side of the disc 42 while being attached to it.
- the damping flywheel 10 also includes a device friction damping 58, of known structure.
- This device 58 surrounds the hub 13 and includes a first part 60 consisting of a ring of friction material, which is intended to rub on a portion of the flat surface 38 of the plate 20 of the first element 12, and by a second part 62 which is constituted by a washer, here metallic, driven in rotation, possibly after taking up a clearance, by the second rotating element 14.
- An elastic washer 64 which elastically urges the washer 62 to bear against the ring friction 60 is also provided.
- the washer 64 of the Belleville washer type, alternatively a washer of the wavy washer type, rests on a ring axially wedged on the inner ring of the bearing 28 mounted on the hub 18.
- This hub 18 is provided with through holes for flywheel fixing screw on the engine crankshaft. A such a screw is visible in the central part of figure 1.
- flywheel is arranged between two rotating assemblies one of which (the crankshaft) is connected to the combustion engine internal and the other of which is connected to the input shaft of the box of speeds.
- the ring 60 is fixed to the washer 62, here by gluing.
- the ring 60 is intended to be clamped axially between the washer 62, forming a distribution washer, and the portion of the surface 38.
- the washer 62 is rotated by the heads 68 of a series of rivets 66, which are fixed on the inner annular disc 42 of the second rotating element 14.
- the internal radial edge 70 of the sealing washer 56A is pinched between the head 68 of each rivet 66 and the portion flat surface facing the annular disc 42 of the second rotating element 14.
- the first sealing washer is fixed on the disc 42.
- the internal radial edge 70 also includes a series of corresponding holes crossed by the bodies of the rivets 66.
- This arrangement allows, in addition to the rotational drive of the washer 62, to secure the washer seal 56A on the annular disc 42, and therefore on the second rotating element 14, the cooperation of the radial edge internal of washer 56A with a bearing surface arranged in vis-à-vis the annular disc 42 ensuring the tightness of the annular housing 30.
- This design ensures mounting and fixing of the sealing washer 56A on the annular disc 42 of the second rotating element 14 before fixing the annular disc 42 on the plate 26 of the second rotating element 14 by means of the series of connecting rivets 44.
- these rivets 44 distinct rivets 66, only secure the disc 42 without secure the sealing washer 56A, which is so spared.
- the second sealing washer 56B is fixed in the same way as the washer 56A using the fasteners 66.
- This internal radial edge 72 has holes through which the bodies of the rivets 66.
- the rivets of fixing 66 and the connecting rivets 44 are advantageously arranged substantially on the same circle and alternating regularly along this circle.
- the internal radial edge 72 of the sealing washer 56B cooperates sealingly, by elastic support, with a surface of bearing formed opposite on the annular disc 42 of the second rotating element 14 thus ensuring the tightness of the housing 30.
- the washer 56B is also attached to the second rotating element 14 by pinching its inner radial edge 72 between the disc inner annular 42 and the plane surface portion 40 opposite formed on the plate 26.
- the second rotating element 14 has recesses opposite the feet of the rivets 66 to allow the passage of said feet, the disc 42 allowing the setting of the outer ring of the bearing 28 between a shoulder of the second element 14 and the internal periphery of the disc 42 with a hole centrally.
- the present invention is not limited to the example of embodiment described.
- the washer 62 could, as disclosed in document FR-A-2 687 442, be linked in rotation to the hub 18 by a mounting of the splines, said washer 62 then having at its periphery internal teeth engaged, possibly with play, in splines formed at the outer periphery of the hub 18.
- the setting in rotation of the washer 62 on the hub 18 could be produced using flats.
- the ring 60 would then present at its outer periphery notches for penetration of the heads 68 of the rivets and driving in rotation of the ring 60, possibly after take-up of a game, by the second rotating element. That is made possible by the shape of the head 68, which is relatively long by being in the shape of a pawn.
- the shape of the washers 56A, 56B can be different knowing that said washers are here intended to be fixed preferably at their inner periphery on disc 42 using rivets 66, while by their external periphery they are intended to bear respectively on the plate 20 and on a surface formed at the internal periphery of the disc 34.
- rivets 66 depends on the applications. Preferably several rivets 66 are used.
