Definitions
- the invention relates to a working method and a device for applying a liquid medium to a printing material in offset printing machines.
- the device is suitable for processing low-viscosity as well as higher-viscosity media such as Water-based dispersion varnish (low viscosity with a viscosity ⁇ 0.1 Pa s) or bronze and effect printing ink with a certain pigment content (higher viscosity with a viscosity of 0.1 to 2 Pas), e.g. Gold lacquer.
- liquid media According to DE 3 427 898 C1, the medium to be applied is metered by means of a metering roller and applicator roller according to the squeeze roller principle, the liquid, e.g. Paint is fed through the roller nip thus formed by means of a tube over a paint wedge.
- the liquid e.g. Paint
- a chambered doctor blade is known from EP 0 071 180 A1, which is essentially formed by a housing with side walls and doctor blades attached to the housing, also called doctor blades.
- the doctor blades are supported on the application roller and the liquid is transferred to the screened application roller via the chamber formed in this way.
- the chambered doctor blade is pivotally mounted in a holder arranged above the application roller and can be adjusted to the application roller by a working cylinder acting on the holder.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of developing a solution which eliminates the disadvantages mentioned.
- the solution according to the invention permits the rapid change of metering roller and chamber doctor blade in combination with the respective application roller as function blocks in an offset printing machine.
- the first function block is used when processing low-viscosity media ( ⁇ 0.1 Pa s).
- An applicator roller rubber coating or steel
- a metering roller steel or rubber coating
- the second function block is used when processing higher-viscosity media (> 0.1 to 2 Pa s).
- a rastered application roller is then used in the above-mentioned eccentric bearings and a chambered doctor blade in the storage for the metering roller.
- the eccentric bearings for the first function module (applicator roller / metering roller) thus simultaneously serve to accommodate the second function module (rastered applicator roller / chamber doctor blade) after the first function module has been replaced from the bearings.
- the pressure is supplied to the applicator roller via a single auxiliary storage (for the metering roller or the chamber doctor blade). This enables economical processing of liquid media in the inline operation of an offset printing machine.
- the device can be converted to the processing of the respective medium in a short time and ensures exact dosing of the liquids.
- the device can be the first printing unit of an offset printing machine for print finishing, e.g. Painting, top coat application, upstream, arranged between the printing units or arranged downstream of the printing units.
- the solution according to the invention is suitable for spot painting (recessed painting) and for full-area painting.
- a further finishing device can be arranged upstream or downstream of the device according to the invention, e.g. another painting unit for full-surface painting or a laminating or embossing device.
- the device according to the invention is arranged downstream of the last printing unit in an offset printing press and is used for inline coating of printing materials.
- the device consists of a sheet-guiding cylinder 1, to which a forme cylinder 2 is assigned.
- An application roller 3 is assigned to the forme cylinder 2.
- a metering roller 4 or a chambered doctor blade 5 is optionally assigned to the applicator roller 3.
- Cylinder 1, forme cylinder 2, applicator roller 3, metering roller 4 and chamber doctor blade 5 are mounted in side frames 19, the metering roller 4, the applicator roller 3 and the forme cylinder 2 being accommodated in eccentric bearings 7, 21.
- Metering roller 4 and applicator roller 3 are each accommodated in two-part bearings 7, 21, so that the upper parts are detachably positively connected to the lower parts of the bearings 7, 21 fastened in the side frames 19.
- the bearings 7 of the metering roller 4 are each designed as an auxiliary bearing 7 in the form of an eccentric bearing.
- An adjusting means 20, for example a working cylinder, is provided on the auxiliary bearing 7 for the provision of pressure (Druckan / Druckab).
- a swivel bearing 6 is arranged on both sides in the side frames 19 as a bearing for the doctor blade 5.
- the chambered doctor blade 5 is detachably attached to a frame 15, for example consisting of supports 8 and struts 14, by means of quick-release fasteners.
- the carriers 8 are arranged on the circular crossmember 12, the crossmember 12 and the bearing plates 13 each forming a pivot bearing acting as a swivel joint.
- a coupling 9 is articulated on the frame 15 on both sides in a swivel joint 10.
- the coupling 9 is also rotatably articulated on each auxiliary bearing 7, which otherwise also accommodate the metering roller 4.
- the chambered doctor blade 5 attached to the frame 15 has a positively positioned closing doctor blade 17 and a negatively employed working doctor blade 16 for a rastered application roller 3 '.
- the working doctor blade 16 is supported on the circumference of the rastered application roller 3' at an engagement point 18 which is at the level of the center of the bearing 22, on line 23, the eccentric bearing of the applicator roller 3 '.
- the chambered doctor blade 5 has a device for feeding and discharging the medium to be processed, which is not described further here.
- the form cylinder 2 can thus be assigned two function blocks.
- the first function block is formed by the metering roller 4 in steel and the application roller 3 in rubber coating.
- the form cylinder 2 carries, for example, a rubber blanket for full-surface painting.
- the metering roller 4 can be provided with a rubber coating and the applicator roller 3 is made of steel.
- the forme cylinder 2 carries a flexographic printing plate or a recessed blanket for recessed painting (spot painting).
- the second function block is formed by the chambered doctor blade 5, frame 15, pivot bearing 6 and an applicator roller 3 'with a raster cup structure.
- the screened application roller 3 ' is e.g. executed in ceramic.
- the device works as follows: If a conventional, low-viscosity varnish is processed, the first function block is used.
- Metering roller 4 and applicator roller 3 receive the lacquer to be processed in the nip 11 via a feed tube, not shown, so that a lacquer wedge forms therein.
- the eccentric auxiliary bearing 7 is pivoted in such a way that the metering roller 4 engages or disengages from the application roller 3 in the pressure setting or pressure setting.
- the metering takes place according to the squeeze roller principle and the application roller 3 conveys the lacquer to the forme cylinder 2, which transfers the lacquer to the printing material in connection with the impression cylinder 1.
- the second function module is used. To do this, the upper part of the auxiliary bearing 7 is to be loosened and the metering roller 4 is removed. The paint supply tube is removed above the nip 11 and the upper part of the bearing 21 of the applicator roller 3 is opened so that the roller 3 can also be removed. A rastered applicator roller 3 'is placed in the applicator roller bearing 21 of the applicator roller 3 and the upper part of the bearing 21 is connected to the lower part. The coupling 9 with frame 15 and chamber doctor blade 5 is inserted into the auxiliary bearing 7 and the upper part of the auxiliary bearing 7 is connected to the lower part.
- a higher-viscosity lacquer such as bronze or effect printing ink
- the chamber doctor blade is coupled with a lacquer feed and a lacquer discharge.
- the chambered doctor blade 5 is supplied to the applicator roller 3 'via the adjusting means 20 arranged on the auxiliary bearing 7 (Druckan / Druckab).
- the working doctor blade 16 engages at the height (line 23) of the bearing center 22 of the applicator roller 3 ' the circumference at the point of engagement 18 in order to change the engagement conditions when adjusting the eccentric bearing 21 of the roller 3 as little as possible.
- the cross member 12 can remain in the bearing plate 13 of the pivot bearing 6 and the coupling 9, frame 15 and chamber doctor blade 5 are pivoted into a parking position above the auxiliary bearing 7 and locked there.
- the rastered applicator roller 3 ' is also removed from its storage 21 and an applicator roller 3, for example made of steel, is inserted and fixed.
- the metering roller 4 is supplied to the application roller 3 via the adjusting means 20 arranged on the eccentric auxiliary bearing 7 (Druckan / Druckab). Previously, the paint feed pipe was positioned again over the nip 11 and coupled to a feed line.
- the metering roller 4 has a separate drive which is coupled to the application roller 3.
- two freewheels are arranged on the axis. One freewheel is coupled to the separate drive of the metering roller 4 and the other freewheel is coupled to the wheel train of the printing press (drive).
- the drive of the printing machine overtakes the separate drive of the metering roller 4.
- the drive is decoupled from the machine (stopped) and the separate drive drives the applicator roller 3 further. This prevents the paint from drying on the roller surface.
- the procedure is analogous, since the drive is only coupled to the bearings 7, 21.
