Abstract

In an electric range with heating-air circulation, optimum cooking is achieved when the flow speed and the air temperature are as uniform as possible in the region of the product to be cooked. This can be achieved by a uniform distribution of the hot-air flow in the baking muffle of the electric range. It is therefore proposed to arrange in at least one corner of the baking muffle a cross-flow fan, the fan drum of which extends across the entire width of the baking muffle. <IMAGE>

Description

The application relates to an electric cooker with a fan for hot air circulation arranged in the baking muffle.

Such an electric cooker is known (EP-A2-245 618). In this known electric cooker, the fan wheel that circulates the air in the baking muffle is driven by an electric motor attached to the back of the baking muffle. The impeller is attached to the rotor shaft of the electric motor that protrudes into the baking muffle.

The blower used in the known electric cooker is a radial blower. This draws in the air from the middle of the baking muffle in the axial direction. The air flow is deflected by the impeller at a right angle and blown out again in the radial direction. The air cooled on the food is then heated again and then flows again along the walls of the baking muffle back to the food. In the known electric cooker, a partition is provided in front of the fan with suction and outlet openings to the part of the baking muffle serving as the cooking space, which has several functions, namely:
the separation of the intake and exhaust area,
the uniform distribution of the air radially emerging from the fan wheel and heated by an annular heating element in the cooking space through optimized shaping and positioning of the outlet openings,
protection against accidental contact for the wheel and ring radiator.

In the known electric cooker, it is difficult to distribute the hot air three-dimensionally in the cooking space in such a way that the flow speed and the air temperature in the area of the food to be cooked are as equal as possible at every point. In the known electric cooker, a plurality of baffles and openings are provided to achieve this goal. However, this requires a considerable amount of equipment.

The technical problem on which the invention is based is therefore to design the device carrying out the air flow in the baking muffle in such a way that the outlay on equipment for the flow distribution in and on the baking muffle itself is greatly reduced.

This technical problem is solved according to the invention in that in at least one corner of the baking muffle there is a baking muffle corner over the entire length extending fan roller of a cross-flow fan and on the side of the venting roller facing away from the corner, a vortex forming plate extending parallel to the latter are arranged.

Due to the large axial extension of the fan roller of the cross-flow fan, the air is sucked out of the entire width of the cooking space and blown back into the cooking space in the manner of an air curtain, which results in an even distribution of the air flow over the entire width of the cooking space.

Advantageous details of the invention are contained in claims 2 and 3. It is described below with reference to FIGS. 1 to 3. Show it:
  • 1 schematically shows the baking muffle of an electric cooker with an embodiment of the invention,
  • Fig. 2 shows the baking muffle according to FIG. 1 with another embodiment of the invention and
  • 3 shows the longitudinal section through the drive of the fan roller in the exemplary embodiments according to FIGS. 1 and 2.

As can be seen from FIG. 1, the baking muffle 1 consists of an approximately cuboidal space, the front outer surface of which is closed with a hinged door 2 (indicated by a dashed line). In the rear upper corner 4 of the baking muffle 1, the fan roller 3 is arranged, which - viewed from the door 2 - should extend over the entire width of the corner 4. If the corner 4 of the baking muffle 1 - as in Fig. 1 - is rounded, then it can simultaneously serve as a baffle for the cross-flow fan. A special baffle is then not necessary. To complete the cross-flow fan, the vortex generator plate 5 is also provided, which separates the suction chamber from the pressure chamber.

The heater 6 is arranged where the outlet cross section of the cross-flow fan is the largest so that it represents the lowest possible flow resistance. The guide plate 7 is provided in order to direct part of the air flow into the lower part of the baking muffle.

In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, only one corner of the baking muffle 1 is designed as a cross-flow fan. Although this should be sufficient for an electric cooker of normal size to achieve an even distribution of the warm air flow in the baking muffle, other corners of the baking muffle can of course also be designed as cross-flow fans.

In the embodiment of the electric cooker shown in FIG. 2, the cross-flow fan differs from the embodiment according to FIG. 1 in that a separate baffle 8 is provided. With such a baffle, a higher flow rate and a lower noise can be achieved.

Fig. 3 shows the drive for the fan roller 3 of the cross-flow fan. This consists of the electric motor 9, the rotor shaft 10 is mounted in the bearing 11 and penetrates the wall of the baking muffle 1. The fan roller 3 is coupled to the end of the rotor shaft 10 which projects into the baking muffle 1 and is designed as a tube.

A certain volume of air is sucked in from the outside through the tubular rotor shaft 10 and flows into the baking muffle. This has the following advantages:
A lowering of the shaft and bearing temperature,
effective vapor extraction by reducing the vacuum in the cooking space.
