Definitions
- the invention relates to a lid made of sheet metal for non-round cans, in particular long oval cans in e.g. Hansa format, with the features of the preamble of claim 1.
- Lids of this type are of very large practical use and are used to close elongated, generally circular-shaped cans with a small height at the ends.
- lids are generally designed as full tear-open lids, i.e. that after removal of the tear-open part, essentially the area of the cover mirror is exposed over practically its entire extent. Restrictions on this must be accepted to a certain extent for production-technical reasons and for reasons of the safe and easy opening of the tear-open part.
- the tear-open part of the lid is relatively unstable and thus has a higher storage capacity for spring forces, so that it is often difficult to open such a can by the consumer without splashing the contents allow.
- the tear force in the last third of the tear region is reduced to a great extent.
- the result is less bulging of the tear-open part and less springback force stored in the sheet. This effect can be enhanced by a special arrangement and formation of beads or other deformations in this area.
- the straight notch line section becomes a hinge-like line with a length that is greatly reduced compared to the width of the tear-open part.
- the board-like end section can be swung back and forth around the line without great effort. It can be released without problems and without the tendency to spring back. This function can be further secured by increasing the remaining wall thickness in the straight notch line section, since this prevents tearing during the opening process. Such tearing leads to a strong rebound of the sheet. Opening by tearing ends at the end points of the straight notch line sections.
- the residual wall thickness in the straight notch line section is approximately 20% to 70% larger than in the other sections.
- the length of the chord-shaped notch line section should take up a noticeable part of the maximum width of the tear-open part.
- the length of the chord-shaped notch line section arranged perpendicularly and symmetrically to the longitudinal center line of the cover is approximately equal to half the greatest width of the tear-open part. This applies especially to covers in Hansa format.
- the end points of the straight notch line section can be connected to the corresponding end points of the straight notch line sections running on the long sides of the cover via a notch line region which runs in an arcuate manner or approximately parallel to the curvature of the cover outline.
- the connecting notch line is preferably also straight, in particular tendon-shaped, in relation to the course of the core wall in the end region of the cover, the connection being able to be realized by one or more tendon-shaped notch line sections running at different inclinations to the longitudinal center line of the cover.
- chord-shaped notch line and the lid core wall are also decisive for the length of the chord-shaped section.
- the distance from the core wall still favors the splash-free breaking off of the tear-open part from the can.
- the lid 1 for a can of Hansa format has the long oval outline typical of this format and, as usual, has a steep core wall 3 adjacent to the edge surfaces 2, which merges into the lid mirror 6.
- a tear-open part 26 which takes up by far the largest part of the cover mirror and is determined by one or more score lines 10.
- the notch line 10 is self-contained and runs on the long sides of the cover at a short distance and parallel to the core wall and in these areas consists of the straight notch line sections 12 and 13. Converge at one of the ends of the cover mirror 6 determined by the circular arc shape of the core wall 3 the score line areas to a start section 11 located near the core wall.
- a lever-shaped grip tab 5 is fastened lying flat on the cover mirror by means of rivet 4, one end of which lies above the start section 11 of the score line, while the other end is designed as a grapple end 7 is in the direction of the longitudinal center line 8 of the cover.
- the tear-open part in the region of the grip tab, can have two or more than two beads 9 and 9a, which extend transversely to the longitudinal center line E and are designed to be straight or slightly curved. Also in the remaining areas, the tear-open part 26 has stiffening deformations 29 and / or beads 28, which in the example shown are arranged parallel to the long sides and parallel to one another and to the longitudinal center line 8 and are distributed over the width of the tear-open part.
- the score line has a tendon to the arcuate shape of the core wall 3 straight-running notch line section 14. In the example shown, this is arranged perpendicularly and symmetrically to the longitudinal center line 8. Measured on the longitudinal center line 8, the chord-shaped notch line section 14 is at a distance 20 from the core wall 3 which is between 2 and 15 mm. This distance is preferably between 6 and 10 mm. The length 21 of the chord-shaped notch line section between its end points 17 is preferably approximately half the maximum width 25 of the tear-open part 26.
- the end points 17 of the chord-shaped notch line section 14 are connected to the associated end points 18 of the rectilinear notch line section 12, 13 parallel to the long side of the cover via connecting notch line sections. These can be curved, optionally also follow the circular arc shape of the core wall 3. However, this connecting notch line is preferably also rectilinear and has a tendon shape and is arranged in relation to the arc-shaped core wall. The end points 17 and 18 can thus be directly connected by a single straight-line Ke b line. In the preferred example shown, however, the connecting score line consists of two tendon-shaped sections 15 and 16, which are e-Weil straight and have different inclinations to the longitudinal center line 8.
- the score line most expediently shows a polygonal profile, as is illustrated in FIG. 2. This does not rule out that the transitions at the polygonal corners are each formed by sections with a very small radius of curvature.
- the sections 15, 16 of the connecting score line can be the same size or different sizes.
- the chord-shaped notch line section 14 has a greater residual wall thickness than the remaining regions of the notch line 10. It can be 20% to 70% larger than the remaining wall thickness of the normal notch line. Deformations and / or beads 28, 29 are provided to support the board-like effect on the tendon-shaped notch line section 14.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a lid made of sheet metal for non-round cans, in particular long oval cans in e.g. Hansa format, with the features of the preamble of claim 1. Lids of this type are of very large practical use and are used to close elongated, generally circular-shaped cans with a small height at the ends. To facilitate removal of the contents, such lids are generally designed as full tear-open lids, i.e. that after removal of the tear-open part, essentially the area of the cover mirror is exposed over practically its entire extent. Restrictions on this must be accepted to a certain extent for production-technical reasons and for reasons of the safe and easy opening of the tear-open part.
Since the cans and the lids of the type described above are nowadays made of thin sheet metal, the tear-open part of the lid is relatively unstable and thus has a higher storage capacity for spring forces, so that it is often difficult to open such a can by the consumer without splashing the contents allow.
In a can of the type mentioned at the market that has been on the market for years, to facilitate the opening process and to alleviate the problems indicated, different and differently oriented bead groups are provided at the end receiving the grip tab and at the opposite end of the tear-open part of the lid, the beads in The area of the grip tab is formed and arranged essentially perpendicular to the longitudinal center line of the can and in a straight line or slightly curved, while in the end area of the tear-open part are oriented parallel to the longitudinal center line or at an acute angle to the tear direction. This is intended to facilitate the unrolling of the sheet at the start of the tear-open part, while at the end of the tear through the beads, an approximately board-like, rigid design is sought. The invention relates in particular to such lids with different deformations or beads in the handle flap area and end area.
Many years of experience with lids of this known type show that, with today's sheet metal and sheet thicknesses, it cannot be completely ruled out that in the last phase of tearing off the tear-off part from the lid, the torn-off lid part (tear-open part) springs back uncontrollably, and can thus be immersed in the contents of the can and thus rips out sauce and sprinkles. Even sauce parts sticking to the lid part can splash due to the resilience effect.
This applies both to cans of the Hansa format, in which, as mentioned above, the end regions of the can are bent in a semicircular shape so that the can has an essentially oval outline, as well as to other non-round cans.
Bei den bekannten Dosen dieser Art weicht der Verlauf der Kerblinie lediglich in dem Bereich, an dem die Grifflasche angebracht ist, von der Umrißform der Dose ab, während im übrigen an allen Stellen die Kerblinie in geringem Abstand von der Deckelkernwand und parallel zu dieser verläuft, was auch für das von der Grifflasche abgewandte Ende des Deckels giltIn the known cans of this type, the course of the score line only deviates from the outline shape of the can in the area to which the grip tab is attached, while the score line runs at all points at a short distance from the lid core wall and parallel to it, which also applies to the end of the lid facing away from the handle tab
It is an object of the invention to develop the lid in a can with the features of the preamble of claim 1 in such a way that the risk of splashing or injury at the tear edge of the tear-open part in the last phase of the detachment process of the tear-open part from the can, it can be banned even more strongly and reliably than has been possible hitherto, so that the handling of the can when opening is considerably easier.
This object is achieved by the measures of claim 1.
Due to the new design, especially in the case of a polygonal course of the notch line regions adjoining the straight, in particular tendon-shaped section, the tear force in the last third of the tear region is reduced to a great extent. The result is less bulging of the tear-open part and less springback force stored in the sheet. This effect can be enhanced by a special arrangement and formation of beads or other deformations in this area.
The straight notch line section becomes a hinge-like line with a length that is greatly reduced compared to the width of the tear-open part. The board-like end section can be swung back and forth around the line without great effort.
It is advantageous if the residual wall thickness in the straight notch line section is approximately 20% to 70% larger than in the other sections.
The length of the chord-shaped notch line section should take up a noticeable part of the maximum width of the tear-open part. The length of the chord-shaped notch line section arranged perpendicularly and symmetrically to the longitudinal center line of the cover is approximately equal to half the greatest width of the tear-open part. This applies especially to covers in Hansa format.
The end points of the straight notch line section can be connected to the corresponding end points of the straight notch line sections running on the long sides of the cover via a notch line region which runs in an arcuate manner or approximately parallel to the curvature of the cover outline. However, the connecting notch line is preferably also straight, in particular tendon-shaped, in relation to the course of the core wall in the end region of the cover, the connection being able to be realized by one or more tendon-shaped notch line sections running at different inclinations to the longitudinal center line of the cover. As a result, the tear forces are reduced and a stronger curling of the tear-open part and its stronger springback are avoided.
The distance between the chord-shaped notch line and the lid core wall, measured along the center line, is also decisive for the length of the chord-shaped section. However, the distance from the core wall still favors the splash-free breaking off of the tear-open part from the can.
The invention will be explained in more detail with reference to schematic drawings of an embodiment.
- Figure 1 shows a cover in Hansa format in longitudinal section, which is designed according to the invention and
- Figure 2 shows the lid in plan view.
In the region of the grip tab, the tear-open part according to the example shown can have two or more than two
The
Practice has shown that in the area of the opening part, in which the

In one exemplary embodiment, the chord-shaped
