Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a floating product recovery vessel.
It applies in particular to the recovery of hydrocarbons or other polluting products floating at sea, this using a ship provided, on the waterline, with recuperators sucking the surface layer of the water. The aspirated water is freed from the hydrocarbons and then returned to the sea. The concentrated hydrocarbons thus recovered are evacuated or stored by various means.
For this recovery to be effective, floating oil must be attracted to the entrance to the recuperators. They are so at close range thanks to the suction power of these devices. However, this power is generally insufficient for the suction to be effective over a long distance. It cannot be increased much without causing unnecessary suction of the deeper layers of water, which do not contain hydrocarbons.
In addition, the advance of a boat tends to cause the lateral separation of the surface layers with respect to the hull by rising currents along the sides of the hull. The efficiency of the recovery of pollutants floating along the hull is reduced, and the collection only concerns a fraction of the order of half the width swept by the boat.
This is why it has been proposed to provide such a boat with concentration devices arranged in front of the recuperators to attract floating products to these recuperators. Such a device may for example have walls forming a funnel, which block the surface layer of water and protrude above the surface of the water, to push this layer directly towards the recuperators. Such a device is described in document US-A No. 3,701,430 (Tuttle).
The object of the present invention is to facilitate the recovery of floating products by attracting the layer of surface water towards the plating of the boat.
- - a hull fitted with a lateral recuperator aspirating the surface layer of water in contact with the hull to allow the recovery of floating products,
- - and a concentration device to attract these products to this recuperator,
- - characterized by the fact that this concentration device comprises at least one wing fixed laterally projecting from the hull of the ship under the water line in front of the recovery zone of the recuperator, this wing comprising a higher leading edge as its trailing edge so as to present, when the ship is advancing, a positive lift which tends to lower the pressure of the water above the upper surface of the wing, and which therefore causes at the rear of the 'wing, a lateral call for surface water from the outside towards the wake of the wing and towards the hull of the ship, the leading edge of the wing being situated at a depth greater than that of which the floating products to attract.
According to advantageous arrangements, the angle of incidence of the wing is between 15 ° and 35 °, the span of the wing is between half and double its cord, the distance from the trailing edge of the wing at the recuperator is at least equal to half the span of the wing, so as to allow said lateral call for surface water to bring the floating products from the end of the wing to in the recuperator, the wing is in the shape of a delta wing, the leading edge of which progressively deviates laterally from the hull from the bow of the ship so as to favor the formation of a vortex with a substantially horizontal axis along relative to the ship, this vortex taking the water below the level of the wing behind it, bringing it up to the surface on the outer edge of the wake of the wing and bringing it back to the hull on the surface in the wake of the wing.
Using the attached schematic figures, we will describe below, without limitation, how the invention can be implemented.
- La figure 1 représente une vue de dessus d'un premier navire récupérateur équipé selon l'invention, avec une aile delta.FIG. 1 represents a top view of a first recovery vessel equipped according to the invention, with a delta wing.
Figures 2 and 3 show respectively side and front views of the same ship.
Figures 4, 5 and 6 show respectively side, top and front views of a second vessel equipped according to the invention with a rectangular wing.
Figures 7 and 8 show front views respectively of the first and second of these same ships, showing devices for removing the wings.
In accordance with FIGS. 1 to 3, a first floating product recovery vessel provided with a device is intended for the collection of polluting products such as hydrocarbons. Its hull is shown in 2. It has two recuperators 4 arranged symmetrically on both sides of the hull, and sucking a surface layer of water, on an adjustable height such as for example 10 cm. Two devices for attracting floating products are arranged symmetrically on either side of the bow of the ship. Each is in the form of a
The optimum efficiency of this wing is obtained when the angle of incidence i is between 15 ° and 35 ° (see fig. 2) and the angle of arrow F between 20 ° and 60 °, this angle being that of leading edge of the wing with the
The optimal efficiency of this rectangular wing seems to lie at an angle of incidence between 15 0 and 35 ° and an elongation (ratio of the span to the cord) between 0.5 and 2.
Advantageously, means are provided for removing the wing (6) so as to allow an easier advance of the ship when there are no floating products to attract against the hull.
In FIG. 7, these means are constituted by a
Le tangon est relevable à l'aide d'une seconde chaîne 26.Maintaining the wing in the low position is ensured by a
In FIG. 8, an interior jack, not shown, allows the
The efficiency of the device according to the invention is illustrated in FIG. 1 by lines 10 in dashed lines representing lines of current on the surface. The horizontal bandwidth of recovery efficiency can thus be increased, for example, to twice the width of the ship.
