Bei dem durch das Patent Nr. 81520 geschützten Kessel haben die Wasserröhren an den Stellen, wo sie die Wandung bilden sollen, einen gröfseren Durchmesser als im übrigen Th'eil, oder einen ovalen Querschnitt, wobei sie mit ihren Schmalseiten zusammenstofsen. Anstatt dessen können die Röhren g, wie auf der Zeichnung dargestellt, an den Stellen, wo sie die Wandung bilden sollen, mit seitlichen Rippen h versehen werden, welche dicht an einander stofsen. An den Stellen, wo die Feuergase zwischen den Röhren hindurchstreichen sollen, kommen diese seitlichen Rippen in Fortfall. Derartige Röhren bieten den Vortheil, dafs sie eine gröfsere feuerberührte Fläche als cylindrische Röhren mit gleichem Durchmesser haben.
