Abstract
In the case of plastic closure caps for bottles, a seal on the bottle mouth can particularly advantageously be achieved, according to the Main Patent No. 587 755, if the base (3) of the cap merges into a sealing ring (5) which runs obliquely and is pressed against the outer side of the container mouth. The invention makes it possible to use closure caps of this type even with bottles which exhibit extreme tolerances or damage at the mouth. For this purpose, the sealing ring (5) is provided with a cylindrical sealing sleeve (11) which engages around the bottle neck in a sealing manner and the internal diameter of which is smaller than the external diameter of the bottle mouth. When attaching the closure cap, the tightening torque is selected such that the sealing sleeve (11) is prestressed by the sealing ring (5). <IMAGE>
Description
PATENTANSPRUCH 1

PATENT CLAIM 1
Bottle closure according to claim I of the main patent, characterized in that a cylindrical sealing collar (11) is provided on the sealing ring (5), which sealingly encompasses the bottle neck on the outer wall.
SUBCLAIMS
1. Bottle closure according to claim I, characterized in that the inner diameter of the sealing collar is smaller than the outer diameter of the bottle neck, and that the sealing collar is designed in terms of wall thickness and material such that it can be pressed over the bottle neck with elastic deformation .
2. Bottle closure according to claim I, characterized in that the lower edge of the sealing sleeve is beveled inwards.
PATENT CLAIM II
Method according to patent claim II of the main patent for closing the closure according to patent claim I above, characterized in that the closure cap is screwed onto the bottle with such a torque that the sealing ring is deformed by the outer edge of the bottle opening in such a way that the seal -Cuff is pretensioned against the bottle neck.
Claim I of the main patent relates to a bottle closure with a closure cap that can be positively engaged with the outer wall of the neck of the bottle, the bottom of the cap at the edge merging into a beveled sealing ring which rests sealingly on the outer edge of the bottle opening.
Claim II of the main patent relates to a method for closing the closure according to claim 1, which closure consists of a closure cap made of plastic with an internal thread, which can be screwed onto a bottle with an external thread, the closure cap on the bottle with such a torque is screwed on so that the sealing ring is deformed by the outer edge of the bottle opening and arched outwards and thus pretensioned.
The main patent describes a bottle closure and a method for closing the closure, which can be used particularly advantageously for closing bottles with large tolerances or damaged bottles. It has now been shown that the area of application and the gas tightness of the bottle closure and the method according to the main patent can be further improved if those bottles can be closed which have both the inner diameter and the upper surface of the bottle neck and also the outer edge the neck of the bottle are damaged or have oversized tolerances.
The invention is accordingly based on the object of creating a bottle closure and a method for applying it to a bottle, which further improve the gas tightness and usability even with extreme tolerances or heavily damaged bottles.
According to the invention, this is achieved in that a cylindrical sealing collar is provided on the sealing ring, which sealingly surrounds the bottle neck on the outer wall. In this way, both the sealing effect directly on the outer edge is improved in that the sealing ring with the attachment of the sealing cuff completely surrounds the outer edge and also ensures that the outer wall of the bottle neck itself is spanned by the sealing cuff.
The sealing effect can be improved if the inner diameter of the sealing collar is smaller than the outer diameter of the bottle neck and if the sealing collar is designed in terms of wall thickness and material such that it can be pressed over the bottle neck with elastic deformation. In this case, it can be placed on the bottle by chamfering the lower edge of the sealing collar inwards.
The inventive method for closing the closure is characterized in that the cap is screwed onto the associated bottle with such a torque that the sealing ring is deformed by the outer edge of the bottle opening in such a way that the sealing cuff is pretensioned against the bottle neck.
The invention is explained in more detail below in an exemplary embodiment with reference to the drawings. Show it:
1 shows the schematic representation of a bottle neck with a bottle closure according to the invention,
FIG. 2 shows the bottle closure according to FIG. 1 on an enlarged scale and before it is applied to the bottle neck and FIG
3 shows, on an enlarged scale and partial section, the bottle closure according to FIG. 2 after it has been applied to a bottle neck.
According to FIG. 1, a closure cap 2 placed on a bottle 1 has a base 3 and an outer part 4 provided with an internal thread (FIGS. 2 and 3).
As can be seen in particular from FIGS. 2 and 3, the base 3 of the cap 2 merges into a beveled sealing ring 5. The wall thickness of the sealing ring 5 is much thinner than that of the outer part 4, which is provided with an internal thread 6, and the base 3. As a result, when the closure cap 2 is screwed onto the bottle neck 8 with a corresponding torque, the outer edge 7 of the Bottle neck 8 deformed in sealing ring 5. On the one hand, this improves the sealing effect between the outer edge 7 and the sealing ring 5 and, on the other hand, causes a sealing collar 11 formed on the sealing ring 5 to be further pretensioned against the outer wall of the bottle neck 8.
The diameter of the sealing cuff 11 is also slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the bottle neck 8, so that the cuff 11 is pressed firmly onto the neck 8 with elastic deformation when the closure cap 2 is put on. The use of suitable plastic materials, as well as the formation of the wall thickness of the sealing collar 11 as a function thereof, mean no difficulties for the person skilled in the art.
In the case of a screw cap injection-molded from polyethylene, a wall thickness of around 1.2 mm for the sealing sleeve has already proven itself, but other dimensions can of course also be provided here depending on the application.
In order to achieve further sealing in addition to the sealing effect of the sealing ring 5 and the sealing collar 11, a sealing lip 9 is provided on the bottom 3 of the closure cap 2, which comes into engagement with the upper surface 7a of the bottle neck 8 as soon as the closure Cap 2 is screwed tightly onto the bottle neck 8. In addition, an inner seal 10 is provided which protrudes into the bottle neck 8 and in particular ensures that when a bottle that has been opened again is closed by the inner seal, the bottle is closed even if the closure cap 2 is not fully opened and thus z. B. the effect of the sealing ring 5 is insufficient.
