The present invention relates to a combination of a loudspeaker box and a suspension bracket for suspending such a loudspeaker box.

More specifically, the invention is intended to make mounting a loudspeaker box on a wall easier, faster, more efficient and more stable.

When hanging known loudspeaker boxes by means of known suspension brackets, a number of problems arise.

A problem is that both a mechanical and an electrical connection must be made. If the mechanical connection is made first, it is difficult and time-consuming to make the electrical connection because of the limited space at the back, because the installer then has to work largely or completely on the feeling.

If an electrical connection is made first, this poses a problem of an inevitably too long wire, which must be covered or otherwise hidden. In addition, the installer must make the electrical connection at a height near the suspension bracket, while the installer must also hold the loudspeaker box at the same time. Loudspeaker boxes for use in public areas are normally fitted with an adjustment knob to adjust the power and / or other electrical characteristics so that they can be adjusted to the desired sound level and to the rest of the sound system.

However, it is undesirable for others than the installer to be able to do this, as this can cause damage or create too high or too low a volume.

Traditional speaker box suspension includes a fixed bracket, with limited adjustment options, or a ball joint, with unlimited adjustment options. However, such a ball joint can lead to a change in the orientation of the loudspeaker box in the longer term due to vibrations and temperature fluctuations.

In particular, it is undesirable here for a loudspeaker box to hang obliquely, that is to say that in frontal view the intended vertical axis of the loudspeaker is not really vertical.

By this invention, simultaneously with the mechanical coupling, through the contact of the electrical contacts, an electrical connection is automatically made.

In a preferred embodiment, one of the mechanical coupling members is a coupling member and the other coupling member comprises a recess with a plate-shaped mechanical undercut portion, the plate-shaped coupling member fitting into the opening and in coupled condition of the mechanical coupling member at least partially located in the undercut portion .

The combination 1 shown in the figures consists of a loudspeaker box 2 and a suspension bracket 3.

The suspension bracket 3 is provided with a base 4 for mounting the suspension bracket 3 against a wall or the like, and with a first mechanical coupling member 5, which in this example is designed as a substantially plate-shaped coupling member, which is square with rounded corners.

The base 4 is provided with a spirit level 6, which is not visible when mounted because it is covered by a cover 7.

The first mechanical coupling member 5 and the base 4 are hinged relative to each other by means of a hinge 8.

Furthermore, in the recess 21 there are two second electrical contact points, which are formed as protruding copper pins 28. The shape and position thereof correspond to the shape and position of each of the three sets 19A, 19B, 19C of the first electrical contact points.

Using combination 1 is simple and as follows. This assumes that electric wires are already present at this position for an electric source signal for sound.

First, the suspension bracket 3 is fixed to a wall at the desired location by means of screws. For this purpose the cover cap 7 is temporarily detached from the rest of the base so that the spirit level 6 can be seen and a placement of the base 4 with the spirit level 6 in horizontal orientation can be obtained, after which the cover cap 7 is replaced.

The loudspeaker box 2 is now pushed straight by the installer until the first mechanical coupling member 5 pushes against the chamfered part of the latch 23. As a result, the latch 23 is pressed against the pressure of the spring 24, after which the entire first mechanical coupling member 5 is pushed into the recess 21 by the installer, after which the latch 23 slides back under pressure from the spring 24 around the mechanical coupling of the loudspeaker box 2 and complete the suspension bracket 3 as shown in Figure 9.

During the above operations, the pins 28 slide into the holes 20 and thereby come into contact with the first electrical contact points 19, in this case more specifically with the set 19B, thereby also providing the necessary electrical connection between the electrical wires with the source signal for sound and the speakers in speaker box 2 are established.

The adjusting knob 27 is therefore no longer accessible, because it is covered by the first mechanical coupling member 5.

The desired orientation of the loudspeaker box 2 can now be set by releasing the clamping clamp 12 through it

The ridges 17 on the various components hereby help to maintain the adjusted positions with a relatively limited tightening force.

The tension shaft 13 can be rotated in the base 4 to use the tension clamp 12 from both the left and the right, depending on the preference of the installer and the available positions.

The mechanical and electrical coupling is canceled again by sliding the latch 23 away and simply removing the loudspeaker box 2 from the suspension bracket 3.

Combination (1) of a loudspeaker box (2) and a suspension bracket (3) for suspending it from a fixed suspension point, the suspension bracket (3) being provided with a first mechanical coupling member (5), the loudspeaker box (2) being provided of a second mechanical coupling member (21), which is complementary to the first mechanical coupling member (5), the suspension bracket (3) being provided with at least two first electrical contact points (19) which are in a fixed position and in a fixed orientation relative to the first mechanical coupling member (5), the loudspeaker box (2) having at least two second electrical contacts (28) located in a fixed position and in a fixed orientation relative to the second mechanical coupling member (21) the first electrical contacts (19) being complementary to the second electrical contacts (28), the first and second electrical contacts (19, 28) adapted to contact each other in the state in which the loudspeaker box (2) and the suspension bracket (3) are mechanically coupled by means of the mechanical coupling members (5, 21).
