Abstract
Una fibra que comprende polietilen-2,5-furan-dicarboxilato, es preparada por hilatura en fusión en un procedimiento en el que una composición fundida que comprende polietilen-2,5-furan-dicarbo xilato que tiene una viscosidad intrínseca de por lo menos 0.55 dl/g, determinada en ácido dicloroacético a 25°C, se hace pasar a través de una o más aberturas de hilatura para producir las hebras fundidas; en donde las hebras fundidas son enfriadas a menos de la temperatura de fusión de la composición para producir fibras hiladas; y en donde las fibras hiladas son llevadas a una densidad lineal en la escala de 0.05 a 2.0 tex por fibra; la invención también proporciona una fibra que comprende polietilen-2,5-furan-dicarboxilato que tiene una densidad lineal de 0.05 a 2.0 tex, en donde el polietilen-2,5-furan-dicarboxilato tiene una viscosidad intrínseca de por lo menos 0.45 dl/g, determinada en ácido dicloroacético a 25°C.
