The Raven

E Vicipaedia
"The Raven" commorationem corvi media noxte cum narratore maesto depingit. Adumbratio a Ioanne Tenniel anno 1858 facta.
"Not the least obeisance made he," locus a Gustavo Doré adumbratus (1884).

Arcanum corvi dicentis commorationem enarrat, hominis tardum in insaniam casum indagans. Amator, discipulus academicus saepe putatus,[1][2] letum Lenore ('Eleanorae') suae amatricis lamentatur. Corvus, in herma Palladis Athenae considens, miseriam constante verbi nevermore ('numquam') iteratione instigare videtur.

"The Raven" Poe primum tributum est in impressione in New York Mirror diurnario die 29 Ianuarii 1845.

Poema sic incipit:

Verba Anglica:
Prima stanza
Verba Latine reddita:
Prima stanza

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore—
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
"'Tis some visiter [sic]," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door—
Only this and nothing more."[5]

Media nocte triste olim, cum ponderarem, fessus, debilis,
multos miros et insolitos doctrinae amissae libros
cum nutarem, paene dormiens, erat plaga subito,
sicut quisque mite pulsans, pulsans ianuam cubiculi.
"Salutator quidam," mussavi, "ianuam cubiculi feriens—
Solum hoc, et nihil plus."
