Husky Ballpark
Washington Baseball partnered with Bayley Construction (contractor) and SRG Partnership (architecture) to begin construction on Husky Ballpark, which opened on March 21, 2014. Following the completion of the Baseball Team Building in March 2012, the next step of the Husky Ballpark project was to construct a 2,200 seat stadium located at the existing site surrounding Chaffey Field. The new stadium was designed to accentuate the natural surroundings, and creates one of the most unique and memorable settings for collegiate baseball in America. The stadium cost approximately $15 million, and includes:
- Seating for 2,200
- Permanent entrance and facade that ties with collegiate feel of other Athletic Department buildings
- Views of Lake Washington
- New Team Performance Center
- New, enhanced scoreboard
- New field turf
- Press box and media area
- Full compliment of public restrooms and concessions
- Husky Authentic – the Official Team Store of University of Washington Athletics, offering unique Husky Baseball apparel and accessories
- Grass berm for students and families
The UW officially opened the 9,000 square foot Wayne Gittinger Team Building in March 2012. Highlights of the building include:
- Locker room
- Office space
- Equipment room
- Training room
- Omaha Room
Along with the locker room, equipment and training facilities, the building also houses the 1,400-square foot "Omaha Room," which serves as a meeting room or an area for fans and donors to watch the games. There is also a study room, video room and additional offices for baseball staff.
The 9,000-square foot facility has been met with rave reviews from visitors, players and staff. Both functional and stylish, the facility is outfitted with a number of large photographs and other graphics recalling the history of the program.
