It’s Never Too Early For Christmas Crafts

XUNCJkQ

This might be the simplest Christmas ornament ever and I love it! SparkOut had this posting on Imgur. An even though this is representative of the Red Shirts of Star Trek: The Original Series, it lends itself to some creativity. With a change of sequin colors for the round ornaments, you could make almost any uniform from any Star Trek series: blue for the Sciences and Medical from TOS, command yellow from TOS, burgundy and black for command on TNG, or even teal for Counselor Troi, to just name a few ideas.

Star Trek and Recycled Leather Purse

20170217_134834

BenaeQuee of Craftster just posted this awesome purse. She submitted this purse to an art show within a Star Trek themed con. She had been dying to make a bag featuring real leather, and this was the perfect time. She had an old jacket that she rescued from being trashed and used it’s leather on this bag. She also accented the side pockets with red piping for a little pop of color, and she chose to go with a red zipper to coordinate with the piping. The bottom has feet, and the lining has a hidden galaxy print in the pocket.

BenaeQuee also used this handbag as an opportunity for a look at how they are constructed. If you check out her FB page here, you can see a tutorial on how she made it.

Star Trek Beaded Curtain

213942_06Jun13_trek_3_resized

LovelyMiss recently posted her Star Trek insignia beaded curtain at Craftster. It’s made of 12,267 pony beads strung on 36″ strands of 3mm macrame cord. Each strand is 141 beads, and there are 87 strands. She made the strands about 6″ longer than needed and then just tied them around the dowel. LovelyMiss put a little hot glue in the knots to hold them in place and then trimmed the ends. The cords are on a 36″ dowel and the curtain itself weighs about 10 lbs. She even painted the dowel as well.

LovelyMiss figured it too about 25-30 hours of beading, and then another 8 hours of prep work (measuring the beads and doing necessary math, making patterns, pre-cutting lengths of cord).

She even included her pattern in her post, in case anyone else wants to make one for themselves.

Star Trek Shuttle Craft Tent

enterprise-camping-shuttlecraft-1701-d-tent-star-trek-dave-delisle-davesgeekyideas-2016

Right now, this craft is just an idea, and unfortunately, doesn’t exist yet. :( It’s only some digital renderings, and that makes me sad.

This is a 2-man tent design that features an entrance at the back (just like the actual shuttlecraft). The tent stores in a carrying case that splits apart to become the thrusters. It was created by Dave, of “Dave’s Geeky Ideas.”

As Dave pointed out, the tent also doubles as a reference to Star Trek V, which opened with Kirk, Spock and McCoy camping at Yosemite park.

This started as a bunk bed design several months back, but he didn’t want to keep posting bed designs at the time, so he shelved it.
