A Monster of a Star Wars Cake

Star Wars Sarlacc bundt cake by Yummy Crumble

Buttery caramel flavored moist bundt cake drizzled with homemade salted caramel sauce and dusted with Biscoff Cookie Crumbles.”

So begins Kathleen’s post on how she made her Star Wars Sarlacc bundt cake. A pretty tasty beginning, I’d say!

She recreated the omnivorous creature from “Return of the Jedi” in cake form, complete with little almond sliver spikes inside the center and cookie batter tentacles. I think the teeth she added are the icing on the cake (ahem – they’re made from frosting, after all…).

Be sure to check out her other Star Wars confections, such as Sarlacc cupcakes, Wampa cake, Tusken Raiders cookies, and Peppermint Jawa Brownies, as well as her Facebook page and Instagram feed. But I warn you, don’t do it on an empty stomach – her pics are mouth-watering!

Groot Cake!

Groot cake

I almost can’t believe that this incredible sculpture of Groot is a cake!! Isn’t it amazing? It was made by the hugely talented Tattooed Bakers who have made dozens (if not hundreds) of other equally mind-blowing cakes.

How-to: Hogwarts Houses Cake

Hogwarts Cake

Darla at Bakingdom.com clearly put a fair bit of work into the delicious looking Harry Potter cake, but the result looks spectacular. It’s a cake that caters for each house of Hogwarts: Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin, at least in colours if not in volume! Darla has written out full instructions in the post – including recipes for the Spice Cake and Cream Cheese Frosting – should you want to give this a go. So check it out, along with some other of her great Hogwarts themed goodies here: Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts Cake.

Now all we need is a spell for removing cakey goodness from one’s hips! Skinnyramus!

Superman Whoopie Pies

Superman Whoopie Pies
I admit that while I can cook and my family rarely starves, I’m not a big one on time-consuming recipes. If it has more than 5 ingredients or steps, I usually skip it. But if I were looking for a little culinary challenge, these Superman Whoopie Pies might be just the incentive I need! I can’t believe how great they turned out!

The tutorial links you to a traditional Whoopie Pie recipe, then walks you through how to pipe in the iconic “S”, and even a custom birthday message.

How about you? Do you love to cook/bake? Have you ever attempted any copycat kind of recipe that mimics a brand or restaurant’s version?

TARDIS Cake

TARDIS Cake

I’ve been working in the realm of fandom for a long time.  I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many talented and crafty fans.  And yes, I’ve seen quite a few geeky cakes.  But, this TARDIS cake is, by far, one of the most impressive cakes I’ve ever seen.

Leigh Henderson, a cake artist and theatrical designer, took to her website, Do It Myself, to showcase just what happens when sci-fi geek meets designer meets baker.  She created a quarter scale (or two-f00t-tall) TARDIS cake that looks like it’s bigger on the inside, with the help of two convex mirrors!
