Arabic translations
[edit]Hello, thank you for adding Arabic translations but the transliterations are incomplete at best, often inaccurate or approximate and very non-standard.
Please read Wiktionary:About Arabic
You should mostly provide full correct vocalisations, so that you don't have to add manual transliterations.
For example, in diff, instead of:
أين تذهب هذه الحافلة (ayn tadhhab hadhih alhafila)
You should have done: أَيْنَ تَذْهَبُ هٰذِهِ الْحَافِلَة؟ (ʔayna taḏhabu hāḏihi l-ḥāfila?)
Please consider changing your style seriously, as we can afford to only use quality contributions.

- Hello sir, alright i will do that but where can i get these latin letters of pronunciation? User02803 (talk) 21:48, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
- If you read my post carefully, you can see the link I gave you. This section has all the letters - Wiktionary:About_Arabic#Comparative_table_of_romanizations_preferred_and_dispreferred_by_the_English_Wiktionary. Also, in the example I gave you, there are no Latin letters. They are automatically produced if the diacritics are all in place. There are a few cases where automatic transliteration is not correct. We don't know how good you are with Arabic and its grammatical rules and no translation is better that a wrong one. Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 22:14, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
- Okay thanks. User02803 (talk) 22:32, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
- I don't Arabic well, so I am trying to be cautious.
- How sure are you about your translation at [[my car has broken down]]?
- You wrote:
- سيارتي تعطلت (sayaarati taatalat)
- I think it should be (not 100% sure):
- سَيَّارَتِي تُعَطَّلُ (sayyāratī tuʕaṭṭalu)
- Form 2 of the verb عَطَّلَ (ʕaṭṭala) (عطل#Verb_3). And تُعَطَّلُ (tuʕaṭṭalu) must be non-past (imperfect) indicative feminine form of the verb. @Fenakhay? Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 22:45, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
- Maybe your version was right but the transliteration was still wrong.
- I've made a small change at تَعَطَّلَ (taʕaṭṭala) - a new verb form 5 and corrected your translation as تَعَطَّلَت سَيَّارَتِي (taʕaṭṭalat sayyāratī) (my attempt). Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 23:15, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hmm okay and thanks i will make utmost effort to give the information correct. User02803 (talk) 06:55, 29 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. Are you able to plan to go through your own edits and apply correct diacritics with standard transliterations?
- In the entry edit mode, you can select "Arabic" from the bottom left drop-down where you can get any Arabic symbol you want. Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 23:24, 29 May 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah i'm thinking about it. User02803 (talk) 06:00, 30 May 2024 (UTC)

- (تُعَطَّلُ) means in present but the phrase means the engine of a car got broke down or stopped from working or functioning, then it's porposed that the event have occured in past so it's more accurate if speaker use (تَعَطّلَت) and thx for understanding. User02803 (talk) 06:53, 29 May 2024 (UTC)
