Political Participation through Social Networking Sites in China

Abstract

The increase in internet use have turned the world into a global village. The advent and rise in utilization of social networking sites have revolutionized the everyday life and politics is no different. Social networking sites allow the public officials to communicate more efficiently and directly to the citizens and vice versa. This research article focuses on the role of social networking sites in enhancing political participation and in particular establishing a relationship between public officials and citizens in China. Public trust in state institutions can be improved in this way as well. Quantitative study technique is utilized in this researched article. Convenience sampling technique is utilized for collecting primary date through questionnaire. Results are obtained through linear regression analysis in SPSS. The research article aims to analyze the impact of social networking sites on the relationship between public officials and citizens.
