DELIS: A decision support system generator for frequency data

Published: 01 May 1986 Publication History

Abstract

The title of this paper suggests two concepts, namely Decision Support Systems (DSS) and frequency style data, that were built upon by the APL application called “DELIS”. DELIS was developed originally for interactive display of certain frequency data arrays, and has evolved over the past 8 years into a comprehensive system for developing a broad class of related applications. Our paper's objective is to explain the title concepts well enough to give the reader a feel for the DELIS design and to explain generally how APL was used in its implementation. The concepts work well together in a way that seems natural to APL users and that may have applicability for other designers and developers of APL based information systems.
