Abstract
Patient adherence to medication regimens is a significant problem across the world. Numerous older adults experience inability, making it challenging to watch for themselves regarding scheduled medication. Any insignificant unconsciousness, such as forgetting to consume pills or taking doses at the incorrect schedule, may provoke potentially fatal crises. This work presents an IoT-based innovative medication monitoring system (iMedMS) for elderly healthcare. The iMedMS incorporates a sound alert to notify the patient about the exact medication schedule and includes a feedback system for sending the SMS to the caregiver, patient, or physician. Moreover, the proposed system implanted seven push buttons to convey the patient’s feelings regarding the consumed medicine. The evaluation result shows the iMedMS with patient’s feeling sharing functionality is more reliable and preferable than the system without feeling sharing module. This paper also explains the functionality of various constituents of iMedMS and its evaluation in quantitative and qualitative ways.
