August's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[12]
Taxes
- Excerpt: "As a lifelong resident of Wisconsin, I know we are taxed too much. It is a goal of mine to reduce the tax burden on our families and businesses in an effort to remove Wisconsin from the list of top ten highest-taxed states. I have authored legislation to make it harder for the Legislature to raise taxes, and support efforts to freeze property taxes."
Role of Government
- Excerpt: "At the core of my beliefs is the idea of small, limited government. I have concerns with the recent growth we've seen in government and will continue to support actions to limit its size and scope."
Human Life
- Excerpt: "Nothing is more valuable than a human life. As a pro-life candidate, I do not support abortion and will work to promote traditional family values."
Spending
- Excerpt: "Our state and federal governments spend too much. I believe government must learn to budget like any family or small business would have to. I have supported multiple measures to reduce government spending and balance our budget."
2nd Amendment
- Excerpt: "As a proud member of the NRA, I support measures to protect our 2nd Amendment rights. I support the concept of concealed carry and did vote in favor of the bill during my first term."

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
