Ted Nordblum

Ted Nordblum is a longtime Conejo Valley resident, small business owner, actor, and martial artist. Raised in a working-class family, Ted learned at a young age the American values of hard work, determination, and self-reliance. After working in construction and as a heavy equipment operator, he opened his own medical device business right here in Thousand Oaks, where he has worked for the past 18 years. Ted was inspired to run for office after witnessing the erosion of our freedoms, of our economy, and our communities. Located in Southern California, the 42nd District includes portions of East Ventura County and West Los Angeles County. This includes the communities of Agoura Hills, Bel Air, Brentwood, Calabasas, Malibu, Moorpark, Oak Park, Pacific Palisades, Santa Rosa Valley, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Topanga, and Westlake Village. Ted currently lives in Newbury Park with his wife, Donna, and his dog and cat, Buddy and Boo.

When I spoke with a group of younger voters. Every single one of them said that they can't afford to live in California, and that they don't feel safe in their own neighborhoods or out in public. They deserve a better California.

I'm a small business owner that has lived in the Conejo Valley for over 50 years. I'm married to the love of my life. We have a dog and a cat. I'm a fiscal conservative, Reagan Republican. First election that I voted in. I love our State and country. That's why I decided to run for office. I believe in personal freedoms and liberties as our God given rights. No one can take them away!! God bless our great State and The United States of America!!

• Save our Children. No more mandates or indoctrination of our youth. This is unconstitutional and just plain wrong.
• Affordable housing. We need to give every American the ability to have the American Dream. To own their own house and raise a family. We need everyone to be vested in our communities. It's the fabric of our great nation.
• Water storage. The voters of California passed Prop 1 eight years ago to build another reservoir in California. I want to know why it was never built. The democrats in Sacramento didn't get the job done. I will make it one of my top 3 priorities when I get to Sacramento. We don't have a climate problem. We have incompetency problem by the democrat party!!

My mom. She raised 3 boys pretty much by herself. I started working at a young age to help my mom financially. We didn't have much, but my mom always made us feel save. Now, me and my brother take care of her. She's the strongest person I know and I love her dearly. As for who I would follow. There have been so many people that have made me the man I am today. I've taken different things from each one. My uncle Phil was a great man. He taught me to be responsible and that my word was everything. If I say I'll do something, then it's good as gold.

I have the business experience to do the job. Sacramento needs to be ran as a business. We have to be fiscally responsible. Look what happens when career politicians run things.

When I was 21, I saw the space shuttle Challenger blow up. I was in total shock like so many of us. It was a devastating moment in our history. I still think about it today.

At 13, I worked as a dishwasher and busboy . It was a seasonal job, so I worked there for about 5 months. It was a great experience.

I don't just have one, I like different genres. I love learning new things.

Well....that's easy. Wolverine. I worked for Marvel Comic and played Wolverine. I worked for them for 10 years or so. I traveled all over the world and did special appearances. One of my favorite jobs ever!!

Losing family and friends. I've lost so many friends before their time. It's hard to understand sometimes.

We can't get anything done unless we have all parties involved. This should be about the people. As representatives, it's our duty and responsibility to try to work together. The ideal relationship would be to put politics aside for a moment and focus on issues that are affecting all of us. And ultimately fix the problems of our state.

Getting our spending under control. We don't have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem. We need to have accountability and transparency in our government. Right now, we have none of that. They spend our money like it will never end. This state has a huge pension problem too. It will go insolvent this year. One trillion in the hole. The union leadership have mismanaged the pension funds for decades and now they want the taxpayers to pick up the tab and bail them out. No way. They created the problem, let them fix it. Union members should pay for it, not us.

In a Unicameral system, laws can be passed easier and could require less representatives. But the drawback is that it could also be abused in that the ruling class could pass laws that the majority of citizens do not support. Also special interest groups could influence legislature more easily. But we function as a bicameral system where we have checks and balances. The drawback to that is we can have gridlock in passing laws. That doesn't happen here in California. The democrats have a super majority and pass whatever they like, even if the citizens don't approve. We have a Autocracy at the moment.

No, not necessarily. The State legislature should be ran as a business, period. And most of them serving have no idea what they're doing or talking about. Business minded people should be running the legislature, not career politicians. Knowing how to run a business and how to be fiscally responsible is key to running our State. It helps to have experience in these areas, not in government or politics.

Absolutely!! We must all work together to best help the people. As individuals nothing will get accomplished. I would get to know every single person in the Legislature. I am willing to work with anyone and listen to any ideas or thoughts.

I think the process we have works. So I would continue to support our current system.

To a point, yes. But you still have to have your own convictions and values and not stray from that. Compromise only works if it helps everyone, not just the individual.
