Samuel D. Johnson, Jr. (1920-2002) was a federal judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit and a judge on the Texas Supreme Court.

Johnson was nominated by President Jimmy Carter on August 10, 1979, to a new seat created by 92 Stat. 1629; he was confirmed by the Senate on October 4, 1979, and received commission the next day. He assumed senior status on May 10, 1991, and served in that capacity until his death on July 27, 2002.[1]
