Riccelli's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[11]
Creating Economic Opportunity
- Excerpt: "Marcus is committed to creating good-paying jobs for men and women in Spokane. This means investing in strategic industries like aerospace and biomedicine to attract hi-tech jobs and keep Spokane on the cutting edge of innovation."
Building a Strong Foundation for our Community
- Excerpt: "Public investments in infrastructure and transportation lay the groundwork for strong communities and put people back to work."
Fostering Safe Communities
- Excerpt: "As a parent, Marcus is working to keep Spokane’s neighborhoods safe for our children. He believes we need to work aggressively to reduce crime in our community, and part of that challenge means giving law enforcement the tools they need to serve our community."
Investing in the Next Generation
- Excerpt: "As the father of two young children, he also knows that kindergarten is too long to wait for a strong start. That is why, in addition to promoting small class sizes and exceptional K-12 outcomes across the state, Marcus is fighting for high-quality early-learning programs and wrap-around services to help close the opportunity gap and ensure every child in Spokane and Washington has an opportunity to succeed."
2012
Riccelli's campaign website listed the following issues:[12]
- Jobs
- Excerpt: "With a decade of experience at the federal, state, and local levels making a difference for Spokane families and businesses and later as Senior Policy Advisor to Senator Lisa Brown, Marcus Riccelli is uniquely qualified to move our economy forward."
- Environment
- Excerpt: "I believe it is paramount to protect and preserve our environment. For us in Spokane, this means many things, but recovering the Spokane River is one of the most important. In Olympia, I will fight for legislation that will protect our river and help us preserve our environment for future generations."
- Crime
- Excerpt: "While Spokane is generally a safe community, we do have issues with crime that we must control to protect our citizens. From cracking down on meth labs, to working collaboratively to address the issue of gangs, I believe we need to find unique and effective ways to address crime in our community. "
- Women’s Rights
- Excerpt: "I have been surrounded by strong and intelligent women in my personal and professional lives. I believe in a woman’s right to choose. The idea that a woman may be paid less than a man for doing the same job is ludicrous to me. I will fight with all I have to protect the rights of all women. "
- Marriage Equality
- Excerpt: "I believe fully in marriage equality and will ardently support Referendum 74."

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
