|Jo Glenn is a Democrat running for the United States Senate to represent Oklahoma. She is a lifelong Oklahoman, first attending Edison high school then graduating from the University of Tulsa with her bachelors and law degree. After practicing law for many years, Jo began teaching in the classroom. She is currently a teacher of Oklahoma History at Will Rogers College High School, for Tulsa Public Schools. As a former Tulsa Democratic Party chair, she knows the importance of fair, honest elections and the power of the people to organize. Jo has been a champion of the Democratic cause in Oklahoma for over forty years, advocating for equality, education, and issues important to Oklahomans. Jo is running to unseat James Lankford to defend democracy, ensure equal voting access, and protect women’s rights.
- Our campaign's central goal is to defend our democracy by protecting every Oklahoman’s right to vote in free and fair elections. As your Senator, I will proudly take the oath to uphold the Constitution and defend this country from enemies, foreign and domestic. I want all Oklahomans to feel their voice is heard at the state and national levels.
- Infrastructure is not just for urban areas but rural areas as well. There are still great strides to be made in rural broadband and access to clean water. We need all communities to work together to ensure the whole state is moving forward. I will work for all constituents to have access to sufficient infrastructure.
- As we have seen in the news, Women’s rights are still under attack. I want to show the nation that Oklahoma values women and I would vote for legislation that prioritizes women’s health and reproductive freedoms. If elected as the first woman Senator from Oklahoma I would continue to advocate and fight for the issues important to creating a fair and equitable future for our children.
I want to focus specifically on four issues: Infrastructure, Women’s rights, Tribal relations, and Equal voting access. Each of these goals focuses on eliminating inequalities for Oklahomans who may often feel left out or underrepresented by their current legislators. I will be a voice for every Oklahoman, not just those traditionally represented.
Honesty, Consistency, Empathy. All three of these qualities will ensure the people's voices are heard through the Senate. We want the truth from our officials and need them to care about our issues. We also must be able to count on them to consistently be in our corner, never giving in to political pressures.
Robert Kerr and Henry Bellmon both left a legacy on the state of Oklahoma by creating significant changes in our infrastructure through their work in the senate. I too would like to leave a positive impact on Oklahoma’s reputation nationally and show the diversity of Oklahoma’s values and people. Our infrastructure needs to be accessible across the state, not just in the cities.
The assassination of President John F. Kennedy was a life changing event for me and many other Americans. It represented the desecration of our sacred ideal that we can disagree in this country without resorting to violent acts. This ideal is ever-present in our current political sphere which is growing more divisive and partisan by the day.
Regardless of party affiliation, I will confirm candidates who are qualified to fulfill the seat they are nominated for. However, every candidate should be evaluated and considered fairly according to their past experience and qualifications.
Robert Kerr created significant and lasting improvements to Oklahoma’s infrastructure while also protecting our environment. Kerr simultaneously represented the interests of our country as well as prioritizing issues pertinent to Oklahoma.
I would strive to restore a cooperative and respectful demeanor to the Senate. We are at our strongest when all voices are heard and all perspectives are considered.

Campaign website
Glenn's campaign website stated the following:
“ |
LGBTQ+ The Republican Party is demonstrating the bigotry and narrow mindedness they have become so famous for by proposing bills banning discussion of LGBTQ history, struggles, and experiences. The sexual orientation of any individual is their own private business and should not be subject to the cheap political grandstanding by a party that portrays virtue. As a member of this community, I know how important it is to elect members who will enact legislation that supports and affirms LGBTQ youth and the community as a whole.
I support common-sense gun reform with laws like background checks, registration, and bans on assault weapons. While I respect the constitutional precedents set for gun ownership, there are also places where guns should never be allowed for safety purposes. Guns have no place in our nation’s churches and schools. People who have been convicted of domestic violence should not have access to firearms. In order to proceed forward, we must come together and treat this issue as a public health crisis gun violence poses.
Infrastructure is as vital to rural areas as it is to urban areas. There are still great strides to be made in rural broadband access as well as availability to clean water. Oklahoma used to be a leader in strengthening our communities through essential infrastructure, but lately we have neglected these vital services, specifically in the Western half of our state. It is time for Oklahoma to innovate when it comes to the challenges surrounding future energy production and connecting communities.
The women of Oklahoma and this country are responsible and give this issue a great deal of thought. We should respect their rights to choose the reproductive option that is best for them, regardless of personal belief. Abortion is healthcare, and I support the current precedent established under Roe v. Wade. State laws violating current federal law, such as the bans recently signed into law by Governor Stitt, are unconstitutional and do not solve the healthcare crisis we are currently in. My campaign is working to ensure women are in charge of their health and reproductive rights.
The minimum wage has not been raised in decades. Now is the time to raise the minimum wage and tie future raises to the increases in cost-of-living. If workers are unable to make a livable wage working full time, then they are likely starting a legacy of debt to pass on to future generations.
As the McGirt ruling continues to be litigated, it is essential that our Government cooperate with the tribes, upholding the court rulings and sovereignty of their reservations, while simultaneously providing the appropriate agencies with the necessary resources to manage new caseloads.
The right to vote is the most important right under a democracy. A vote is our voice in the government. Our democracy is not sustainable if all eligible voters do not have equal and easy access to voting. Congress and State legislatures should not be allowed to pass any law that hinders one's right to vote. Registration and mobilization are essential to maintaining the people's ability to hold their officials accountable.
Reproductive choice. Equal pay. These are the same issues we have been fighting for decades. Women's issues go far beyond the right to choose. This state needs improvement in childcare systems, universal pre-k, earned income tax credit, and access to contraceptives. Women make up half of the country and it is about time Oklahoma women feel represented on a national level.
Through my time in the classroom I have experienced first hand the need for an increase in funding for public education.I will fully fund public education, and I do not believe in the efficacy of school vouchers. Public education is the most important sector to fund for our children's futures, especially as our state is 43rd in funding for public education and 48th in public education overall.[3] |
