Two-timing watch recommendations
I recently moved very far away from my best friend. As a gift, I would like to get us matching watches that can show two different times (my time and hers). Women's watch style preferred. I've tried to google but I haven't had any luck. Do y'all have any suggestions?
Looking for a low profile women's digital watch
I'm looking for a watch that is small, not bulky. I want it to be digital, preferably colorful or with a design. It being waterproof or water resistant is preferred. I would like something like this watch in a bright color or design. I don't care if it's women or men's, although feminine and not super sporty would be nice. I don't want a baby-g. I hate the round face and the super sportyness of it. [more inside]
I need an inexpensive waterproof heart beat watch
My pulse is too slow (37) and my Dr. says I may need a Pacemaker, so am being referred to a cardiologist.
I have looked at previous questions and at Amazon, but am bewildered by the choice. Because I swim laps three times a week it should be waterproof (not just showerproof) and preferably tie in with an app on my Samsung S7 running Android 7.0 Would prefer not spend more than $45/50.
TIA!
Should I get an Apple Watch?
I've been toying with the idea of an Apple Watch (series 3, not the cellular one) for a while now, but I'm still not sure if it would be something I would really get a lot of use out of. [more inside]
How to watch cricket online in the U.S.?
Is there a way to stream the India vs South Africa test match online in the U.S.? The sites I'm finding are scaring McAffee and the Sony Ten 1 feed says it's 'not available in your geography'.
Best wearable (eg apple watch) phone-capable device for older person?
I'm hoping to get a Black Friday weekend deal on a wearable device for my mother. The question is, which one? I don't have an iPhone or Apple Watch myself and have never really looked into android wearables so I don't have any experience. more key info below the fold.. [more inside]
Calling all watch experts, especially Russophiles
Dug an old favorite watch out of my drawer, would love to know more about it. All I know for sure is that I got it in 1998 as a gift from someone who'd been in Poland, that it's self-winding, and that it has Russian text on the face and back. Anything else is surmise and conjecture. [more inside]
Durable activity trackers for klutzes
I've had Fitbits for a few years and I like them but they have a tendency to get physically destroyed by ordinary wear and tear. Fitbit's warranty service is good but lasts only a year. What is a good fitness tracker that will survive (say) 3 years of 24-hour wear by an active and somewhat clumsy person? [more inside]
Kids' watch that I can send a signal to: does this exist?
I don't need GPS, I don't need texting or two-way calling, just looking for a kids' watch that I can send a signal to (via app?) so I can call my kid home even if he's out of shouting range. Does this exist? [more inside]

I have a small Japanese quartz wristwatch, and would like a translation of the script on the front and back.
It would be helpful if anyone knows the approximate value. Thanks.
Magnetic clasp watch band, 24mm width.
Where to find a magnetic-clasp watch band to fit a watch with 24mm wide spring bars/pins? Can find magnetic in smaller sizes, or non-magnetic in that size, but am failing to find both at once...
Help Replacing Watch Battery (and, in the process, the band)
I have a nine-year-old watch I like very much, inherited from my dad (though not an heirloom or anything), which is a Casio "Wave Cepter" analog face self-setting watch. Battery replacement with other watches in past experience used to be easy. Apparently this is no longer the case. [more inside]
Where to source leather for a DIY watch band?
I'd like to take a stab at making my own watch band(s) out of leather. There are plenty of tutorials out there on the process, but I am not so sure about where to source the materials -- especially the leather itself. [more inside]

Used Hamilton Watch
I want to buy a 38mm Hamilton Men's H70455863 Khaki Field Automatic Watch. I'd love to buy it used, but most of the used Hamilton Khaki Field Watches I see are the larger 42mm or 46mm versions. Do you have any suggestions of places to buy this watch used? It retails for ~$400; I'd love to get it for ~$200.
Giftfilter: Wristwatch Edition
Mum has been going on about getting a new watch for ages, so I'd like to surprise her with something nice for Christmas, but I'm having problems finding anything with her specific requirements - stretch band, large clear face, and either self-winding or battery-powered.
Budget is fairly flexible - specific details are inside. [more inside]
Where can I get my auto-winding watch overhauled in NYC?
I have a nice watch, an automatic Baume & Mercier. Can anyone recommend a reputable watch service place in New York City? Most of the watch repair places I find don't do much beyond replace bands or batteries... I need a proper overhaul. [more inside]
Multiple Alarm Watch
My wife is looking for a wristwatch that can set multiple daily alarms. All my searching comes up with sport stopwatches. A smart watch is probably overkill and too expensive, but I can't figure out a middle ground. Any suggestions?
Can I hack my Apple Watch into tracking sleep?
I used to own only a Fitbit Charge wristband. Now I own the Fitbit and an Apple Watch. But as the Apple Watch doesn't have an official sleep tracking function, currently I have to wear the Fitbit to bed to track sleep, and then use the Sync Solver apps to synchronise sleep data and fitness data between Fitbit and Apple. It's all a bit of a kludge. Is there a way to hack the Apple Watch into tracking my sleep patterns? [more inside]
What kind of wristwatch is this woman wearing?
Today, I was looking at this photo of Yulia Tymoshenko meeting US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Kiev in 2010, and I noticed that the woman standing next to Yulia is wearing a watch that shows two timezones with a minimalist aesthetic that I admire.
Here is an cropped photo of the watch.

London second-hand watches under £500?
I'm a guy with small wrists (5.5"), so most modern dress watches don't fit me well at all. An option I've seen suggested online is to go vintage, since older watches are often 36mm or smaller - is there anywhere in London with a good selection that isn't centred on £4000 Rolexes?
Alternately, are there any modern watches in a smaller case size that anyone can recommend? I'd really like a Christopher Ward, but 39mm is just too large for me.

What do I call the spring loaded metal bit that holds watch bands in?
I have been gifted a Samsung Gear Live, and in the process of struggling to put a backpack on over a heavy winter jacket, I ripped off one of the watch bands. The band itself is fine, but the metal post or whatever that attaches it to the watch face is bent. Can I buy just the post somewhere? [more inside]

Broken watch - how to repair/replace workings?
My father recently died, and I discovered that he never threw away a single watch, leaving a drawer full of non-functioning watches. Most of these are standard gentlemen's executive watches of the old school. However, one is an heirloom of sorts, and I'd like to work out what to do with it. Special chronoflake details inside. Nice, professional looking women's watch with a stopwatch?
I'd like a watch that I can wear every day to work that looks nice and professional, but it's important to me that I be able to time things. All the watches I find with stopwatches look crummy so I just end up getting $15 digital watches from Target which are fine but I should probably upgrade. I don't want to spend ten thousand dollars or anything. What are my best options? [more inside]
Should I buy this Shinola watch?
I'm in the market for this new watch. I toured the Shinola factory over two years ago and I was really enamored with the whole thing. So this is not an impulse purchase. I've been thinking about this for awhile. My apprehension is: I am aware that Shinola is owned by Fossil and many people think the 'Detroit Made' marketing is all hype. This very well may be true, but I couldn't help but be personally touched by the whole experience when I visited the factory.
That said, I don't know much about watches and want to make sure I'm really getting a quality look and price/value here. Plus, I haven't found many reviews (at all) about Shinola online. If you'd recommend NOT buying this watch, I'd appreciate if you could recommend an alternative.
What I'm looking for is a basic white, round face with date, larger face, with a leather strap. I'm 30 work in mid-management in a casual office so an everyday, slightly dressed watch in < $600 price range is the target.
Oh and please do not say, Apple Watch.
Thank you!
What music is used in the reveal video for the new Apple Watch?
Here's the YouTube version of the video. I tried Google, Shazam, and Audentifi without any results. Does anyone know what the song or artist is? I understand it may be from an audio library or custom made for this video, but I thought I'd see if anyone can identify it.
What to do with a non-functioning Rolex? Fix and sell and sell broken?
I have this watch I looks great but was left in a damp basement for two years and is no longer working. Is it worth taking it to be fixed? is there a market for used/broken Rolexes?
I would never buy a $500 watch, but should I pay pay $500 to fix a $5000 watch?
Thanks, and just looking for opinions :)
How do I safely/reliably buy used watches?
I have a couple of nice ($5-10k) watches I got new. I love this kind of stuff, and would like to expand my collection, but it's really hard to justify laying down that kind of cash on a regular basis. So I'm considering buying some used watches. However, I'm really nervous about getting ripped off if I buy used (either online or from a local dealer who I don't have a track record with). If you buy nice watches used, where do you go, and how do you know you're getting a quality watch at a fair price?
Looking for a woman's sports watch with no exposed metal.
My wife would like a sports watch. She doesn't need GPS or fancy gadgetry, just something to wear to the gym. She needs large digital numbers that can be read easily while she's moving, and some timing functions. The problem is that she's allergic to metal, so anything that would touch her skin would have to be leather or plastic--the strap, the buckle, the back of the case, and any buttons on the side. I've looked in sporting goods stores but only found metal on the backs of cases, and that's something that's hard to tell online. Any recommendations? [more inside]
Is there an app for that?
I’m interested in the DURR, a simple display-less “watch” that vibrates every 5 minutes to influence your perception of the passing of time. Since DURR is not currently shipping and I already own an iPhone with a clock and a vibrating buzzer, I feel like this should be doable with an app. There’s already a Pebble app so I’m sure it’s not crazy.
If this doesn’t currently exist, how hard might it be to write one myself? I’ve compiled things in XCode before but not written my own from-scratch Objective-C, so I’d be approaching this as a newcomer.
Watch band pin replacement
One of the cotter pins in the stainless steel band of my Citizen watch has come loose to the point that it slides out on its own rather easily, separating the links of the watch band. The watch is still under warranty, but I'd rather not deal with shipping it away and waiting for such a minor repair. Are local jewelry shops likely to have a replacement pin, or [more inside]
Incognito Rolex?
From 1967 until his death, my dad wore a perpetual-movement stainless steel watch that my mother gave him when they got married. He always said it was an "incognito Rolex," and I've recently learned that there might be some truth to that.
