I'm so glad Daredevil is tackling how Punisher has become an unwitting icon to corrupt cops. Very glad they have the guts to do this story because it REALLY needs to be told, can't wait to see Frank end them all

HARD SAME.

I live in a redneck ass town and I see big jacked up trucks with Punisher skull stickers that have either the "thin blue line" or a Confederate flag on them. I laugh every time I see them because they CLEARLY don't understand Frank Castle as a character. They just think "OH BIG MAN WITH BIG GUNS ONE OF US"

Nah. He would shoot them in the face without hesitation.

I am LOVING this arc.

i feel like some of you are unable to wrap your heads around matt being a flawed person beyond "uwu my flawed traumatized baby"

he lies, he's reckless, he wrongs and disrespects the people he cares about, he's a hypocrite of the highest order, he decides that sometimes he knows best and that he is right to bulldoze over the motivations of other people.

after outing ayala as the white tiger in court — which i do think is in-character, he's a great lawyer but he's known to take risks and allow his daredevil-ness to bleed into how he presents his clients — he tries to moralize to hector with borrowed lines from maggie. matt, with his current rejectionist viewpoint on vigilantism, thinks he has done hector a favor by making it impossible or hard for him to be white tiger. he makes false equivalencies and says things that he knows are bullshit because he's deluding himself.

despite all his altruism (which he is currently going on a year of suppressing), matt is a spectacularly self-centered person. it's an argument he and foggy had multiple times. but as the audience, we can see the extent of it in a way that foggy can't: matt filters the world around him through the ways he thinks about himself. vigilantism lost matt his best friend, therefore it is not only okay but right for him to take the white tiger from hector (it would protect his loved ones).

but we know that matt is still experiencing a great deal of cognitive dissonance. it's not really as simple as "vigilantism bad" for him, is it? so we get matt saying things he would not otherwise say, not only to justify himself to hector but also to convince himself.

I think these comments about Matt from a Marvel comics editor really highlights all of his actions in this episode quite nicely:

i really do think that it was reckless and brash for matt to reveal hector’s identity like that BUT we have also seen the same level of recklessness and carelessness during the frank castle trial where he argues that frank is a hero, vigilante etc. both cases he was dealing with some heavy shit so.. i wouldn’t say it’s out of character. matt just isn’t as well adjusted as he tries to present himself to be. he’s clearly still struggling and closing that part of himself that needs to come to terms with the grief of loss and the minute that barricade shatters i’m excited to see the “reborn” matt murdock.

Matt is maximizing his bitchiness to an incredible degree

the way he won’t let himself go to church because it’s a bridge too far but the court room has become his church also and it’s safe to practice there. it’s safe to sit on the pews (the wooden benches where the families sit) and look to the altar (the judge’s chair) and pray to god (and to foggy) and contemplate daredevil by twirling the horn in his fingers….to absolve himself by getting hector to go free….
