Some angst for thought for the firelight au: Jayce gets shot by Jinx during an encounter (whether its like in the show where they're destroying a shipment of shimmer or something else) and Ekko getting reminded of seeing Benzo bleeding out after getting hit by Deckard. And he tries to keep it together, but he is panicking because his family is once again bleeding out in front of him.
Also the sad parallel of Silco being responsible for Benzo's death (Ekko's dad) and now Jinx, who used to be his friend, has injured the last person from his life before everything went wrong.
I imagine Ekko staying with Jayce while he recovers (taking the lighter route of Jayce being okay here) and holding his hand like he's scared that he'll disappear if he lets go. Like how he hugged Vi one last time before she left and then she was gone too. So, he holds onto Jayce like he'll disappear too if he lets go.
Well, yes, that is indeed angst for thought.
I had an art idea of Ekko sitting next to Jayce’s bedside after a bad raid, but I haven’t considered Jinx being the one to put him there. Oh, that’d hurt, exquisitely. More trauma for our poor boy.
Thank you very much for the kick to the heart, I needed it. 😭❤️
Beast Tamer Wife AU.
Shen Yuan transmigrates into a wife and starts fighting for Luo Binghe's favor. Not for the sex or the prestige or anything. Those are nice but not as nice as the beasts that Luo Binghe brings back sometimes. He needs those.
In my dreams, you are part of me Under my skin, I gave you all of me
The god of the moon and his devotee.
I go hungry every night Not this time around
No new art but a lot of art I've never posted to tumblr because I never use it as much as I should.
That about Ekko and Jayce being from Piltover first and how he can go back if he wanted to. Reminded me of a plot point from Brother Bear 2. Which has a conflict between the older brother and the younger brother when someone from the older brother's past life comes back.
And at one point, the older brother is asked if he misses his old life and has ever wondered about going back and he does say that he has thought about it. Which causes the younger brother to run away after he overhears this.
And then later, the little brother says "You're going to leave me. You said you missed being one of them." and "You're going back with her, aren't you?"
And the big brother responds with: "I do miss things, but you're my brother. I'll never leave you. Not ever."
Idk it just really reminded me of this. It felt relevant to the potential conflict here. Having an old life that you sometimes miss, but you also have a new life that you wouldn't abandon because of the people that are part of that new life.
Getting my mind read again, because this is exactly what I meant by that line?
Jayce is a creature of habit and comfort, and he does miss the softer parts of his old life. Not to mention the security and the luxury. But that's just it. Jayce will whine about it from time to time, but he knows he'll never go back to it. Not if it meant leaving behind Ekko and the life they've built together. He'd really much rather die first.
Ekko knows this, intellectually. He's asked Jayce, again and again, if he'd go back given the chance. Jayce refuted without hesitation. But Ekko is a traumatized teen who's lost his family in a really horrifying way. He gets anxious sometimes. Overprotective.
I want more of firelight Jayce because is so good. When is new comic of this au?
Aw, thank you! I’m glad people like the AU so much. 🤗
Sadly, the next installment will have to wait a while. I’m currently writing my thesis and don’t have much time for personal projects. 😔
Council: Come back to Piltover and forget what happend seven years ago. We need your inventions.
Jayce: Fuck you
Scar: *angry stare at the council*
Ekko: *shows middle fingers*
The Firelights in response to anyone trying to take one of them:
I'm imagining the contrast between Jayce's sibling relationship with Caitlyn and his sibling relationship with Ekko.
I wonder if Caitlyn would feel replaced at all by Ekko? Like Jayce went and got a new younger sibling and left her behind.
But I feel like Ekko would be quite protective of Jayce from Caitlyn, especially if it seems like she wants to take him away. Just the potential character conflict and all.
Oh, yes! That’s exactly what I’m going for. Caitlyn and Ekko have issues, and they both fear losing Jayce in some form.
Caitlyn, because she already lost him once. Because her family didn’t protect Jayce and she was cut off as a result. Abandoned.
Ekko, because Jayce was all he had for a long time. Because Jayce was from Pitlover first and could go back if he wanted to.
It’s a major point of contention, and their interactions get a lot more personal than in canon.
OMG I LOVE YOUR STYLE!!
I'm trying to have a more realistic style but I can't get faces!! They all look weird and flat and I can't figure out 😭
Do you have any tips??
Also Jayce looks heavenly
As I have not seen your art before, I'm gonna assume the problem is in the face planes?
The weird thing about faces is that it's made of flats when you simplify them. (Everything is, really.) You have to learn how those work, how they come together. Search up 'face plane 3D' and you'll have some great references.
For practice, I'd recommend taking pictures of people and breaking them down into flats. You'll train your eye that way.
Again! I'm assuming! And I'm not a trained artist, so I'm only telling what worked for me.
Good luck on your art journey!
What if the student that sabotaged Jayce got exposed and the council decided that Jayce need to come back to Piltover? Maybe they sent Caitlyn and she realized that Jayce want do nothing with Piltover? I really love your au ❤💗
Oh, so! Jayce is a very wanted man. Piltover didn't stay ignorant of the connection between the new form of technology in Zaun and the academy student they exiled years ago that promised exactly that. They've been looking for Jayce.
But Zaun is protective of their own, Firelights doubly so. Not to mention the years Jayce and Ekko spent in hiding and on the run. They've perfected the act of escaping and disappearing. No one is getting to them, not unless they allow it.
Caitlyn is simultaneously vindictively gleeful and incandescently angry. Look at Cassandra, her displeased frown when the man she condemned years ago refused to show himself. Look at Ximena, her tired, hopeful eyes as she heard more and more of magic in Zaun.
She understands why Jayce wouldn't want to return, but she doesn't get how he could leave his mother behind.
(How he could leave Sprout behind.)
Question about your firelight jayce AU : what's going on with viktor and heimerdinger? Are they still Dean and Dean assistant in this Au?
Also, how is the political situation between zaun and piltover? Is shimmer still a huge problem, like how it was in Canon? Is the gap between zaun and piltover still as big even though there is presumably no hextech in this AU?
Still not sure, actually. I wanted to draw a bit of a parallel between Viktor in Piltover and Jayce in Zaun, and it could go in a few directions. I haven't decided on a definite answer yet. Viktor won't stay an assistant though, no matter the AU.
The gap is smaller! It's half of what compelled me to make the AU. Everything Jayce could have offered Piltover, Zaun gets instead. The next installment of the series is about that, actually. Hextech inventions meant for Zaun, first and foremost.
Oh, and Shimmer is still a problem. Not as widespread as canon, but still. Silco is crafty and Singed doesn't practice the scientific ethos.
How are xiemna and cait doing in your jayce firelight au?
Will cait meet jayce around the same time she met ekko in Canon aka during her alliance with vi after getting her out of stillwater?
Love the AU btw!
Not well. They're under the impression that Jayce died. He left them with a final note, his bracelet, and no body.
Caitlyn blames her mother. If canon is about Caitlyn feeling disconnected from her family name and connecting to it to the detriment of everyone, this AU is about Caitlyn hating it. Jayce's "death" highlights everything wrong with it.
Ximena blames herself. She replays her “last” talk with Jayce over and over again, wondering what she could have done different to reach her only child. To get him to stay.
I have a little comic planned for them, actually. On separation and reunion. You nailed the time for Cait but you'd have to wait a while to see how it goes. 😊
I am not taking a risk
Not risking it pals
U know what I want potato of luck
Damn right I’m reblogging. See previous post re wrath of whatever from high atop the thing.
I'm not risking anything after the week I've had
I won't ignore...
im tryna get back into drawing again but if i draw jayce x scar, can i tag you? i think you mentioned them either here or bluesky and i have not been able to stop thinking about themmm
Oh, please do! I’d love to see! 👀
Yeah, I mentioned them on bluesky. They used to date, and no one was more heartbroken than Ekko when his two favorite people broke up.
Firelight Jayce and Scar have a great relationship, romantic or otherwise. Everyone thought they could be a thing, so they were, and it was nice. But that was all. They parted on amicable terms.
They’re now friends who get weirdly intimate sometimes.
I just want to say: thank you for ponytail Jayce. I didn’t know that I needed him in my life.
I must ask, what compelled you to give him the ponytail? There are so many things I love about your Jayce design, but like I said, I see the ponytail and I’m like “damn”
(Also the progression of Jayce’s hair growing throughout part 1 of your firelight au is so a cool detail)
Thank you! ☺️ Okay so.
I wanted to make a clear divide between Jayce that molded himself to the exacting standards of Piltover and Jayce that decided he wanted nothing to do with that.
He was betrayed and let down by Piltover. He’s a misfit, well and truly. It really doesn’t take him long to consider himself Zaun’s. Or at least, Benzo’s. And he wanted to look the part.
His hair is the easiest thing he can control, in terms of appearance. He can just stop cutting it and see how it changes him.
Also, yes, it works great as a time marker!
