AOC lays out the current status, WHY Musk is doing this, and WHAT actions we can take.
ACTIONS
- Know Your Rights! - Learn you rights when it comes to ICE.
- Help Others Know Their Rights - Print out flyers and cards and spread them around your neighborhood and networks.
- Make Them Fire You - If you are in a position where they have asked for your resignation or compliance. Do not comply and do not resign. Make them do it.
- Turn Out to Vote in the 3 Special Elections - 2 in FL and 1 in NY. Even if Republicans still win in FL, a huge turnout for Dems will scare Republicans. Republicans right now are more afraid of a primary than Dems. If you are not in these places, donate to these races.
- Call Your Senators - Tell Dem Senators to vote No of every appointment. Some of them are still voting Yes, even after the coup of the Treasury! Call your Republican Senators and tell them you don't want any nominations going forward while Musk is controlling the Treasury.
- Know What Committee Your Congressman is On - We need to understand our government.
- Hound Your Republican Congressman - They are afraid of you. They are little people with big egos whose feelings are easily hurt.
WHAT ARE DEMOCRATS DOING
- The #1 goal of all actions is to slow down everything they're doing. Slowing them down limits the destruction.
- House Dems will advance legislation this week to help block the infiltration of the Treasury. The Republican majority is only 2 people, so they only need to find two weak Rs to pressure. Those Reps care about how pissed off people are, and both sides can be pissed about a coup of the government. Westchester County NY and Rockland County NY, you will need to make phone calls about this legislation when it comes out!
- Coordinating with State and Local governments. The House Dems cannot sue, but the State AGs can. Courts still matter! Biden appointment MANY judges.
- Democrats showed up at USAID yesterday to draw attention to what's going on. To make news.
- Dems are all back in DC on Feb 4 and so more can start responding publicly.

I realize Democrats are out of power and can’t do much with legislation to stop this.
I also realize this all happened in 3 days and appears to have caught them flatfooted (though I struggle to accept that nobody knew this was going to happen – DC leaks like wet cheesecloth).
Okay. So what can they do?
Off the top of my head:
1. Members of Congress get the the bus and go to one of these agencies where Musk and his unvetted goons are installing rootkits, stealing our private information, and breaking the law. Tell the press they’re going to be there, and make a whole lot of noise. Force media to pay attention to this.
2. Stop everything in Congress. No unanimous consent, no approval of nominees, absolutely no help. Republicans uniformly opposed President Obama’s popular agenda, it shouldn’t be this difficult for Democrats to uniformly oppose Trump’s unpopular agenda.
3. File lawsuit after lawsuit after lawsuit. Force them into court to defend and justify their plainly illegal actions. Force them to defy judges. Force them to take this all the way to the corrupt SCOTUS.
4. Trump and Musk are weak little boys with fragile egos and this unholy alliance will eventually fracture. Speed that up by talking a whole lot about President Musk.
5. Tell Chuck Schumer to shut the fuck up forever for a minute because his communications team is maybe the worst I have ever seen in my adult life.
I don‘t know that any of these things will actually stop this attack on America from these fascist scumbags, but I am pretty confident it will force the national conversation to be about the coup that was accelerated this weekend, instead of the fucking Grammys.
They actually did 1 and 2 today, I think because of everyone blowing up their phones all weekend! So we need to keep doing that. If there's nothing to complain about on a given day, call to thank them for throwing sand in the gears.
