Can you tell us anything about your LttM?

What does she think about Pebbles, Sig, SRS and the others?

Does she blame Pebbles for what happened?

Whats her personality and did it change after the collapse?

Also do you ship SliverMoon?

She's sad, tired, resigned and frustrated. She can see daylight through her cracked open chamber, but no matter how hard she tries can't get the right angle to see the sky. That frustrates her more than anything else does, most days. It seems almost cruel that she could fall so far as to literally have her innermost chamber laid bare to the open air and yet still not be free enough to look at the sky.

At a later point in her life, in memory of that helpless yearning and its eventual fulfillment, she takes the alt name 'Glimpse of Sky' when she needs an anonymous online identity. It seems a fitting choice to her.

hii, i am so curious about what you thought of tdp s7

Hi! I haven't engaged with tdp material since S4 on purpose, since I've learned I don't do well being a creator in fandoms whose canon is so actively updating. I'll binge all of tdp and catch up on everything eventually, but it might be a while, and I'd like to ask for strictly no spoilers for anything since S4 until then! I'm great at avoiding spoilers on my own but if people send them to me I can't really avoid that :P

(thank you for being so spoiler free in your ask btw, appreciate it!)

Avatar

Hi, is the "send me all the things you like / are looking towards to in assembly to deal with writing dry spell" thing still on? Should i send them as asks on this blog or comments on AO3?

Avatar

This applies ALWAYS, and I prefer ao3 comments as they're easier to find and reread later. the comments I was getting on assembly through the year kept my mind on it and thinking about it and especially when:

people mentioned specific details or quotes that they liked from the story = puts my head in thinking about this story specifically, and things I liked about writing it

people mentioned stuff they're looking forward to = gets my brain engaged thinking about my plans and how people would react to reading it

Both good

Will suns become the local groups (and beyond, maybe) jewelry and accessory maker? Looking at all your Assembly drawings everyone has jewelry that is similar to what suns made for themselves. With shapes and themes that include other iterators motifs but mostly suns sun and delicate dangly chains and triangles.

Avatar

Yeah suns does most of the artisanal crafting for their friends, which is most often clothes and jewellery, but also includes assorted art pieces and furniture

Before the month ends??!?!?!?!? How are you both so skilled and so fast??? Man, I gotta reread Assembly again to write more things I love about it.

Avatar

You see the answer to this is: I had most of a chapter written when I went on hiatus, and it's not that long of a chapter either. I wrote like 1400 words yesterday and that was enough to nearly finish it, so it isn't that impressive honestly

Just finished my 19th reread of Assembly, and it is just GLORIOUS. Love me some philosophical Suns rediscovering existence and its' meaning contrasting with the more simple, practical way spearmaster (and learner) see life. All of it with a sprinkle of chaotic sig. AND THE SCUGS!! omg scug culture my beloved. I know you haven't posted anything Assembly related in a while but if you have anything please do

Please know that I have kept this in my inbox for a while intermittently looking at it because it gives good brain chemical. Sorry for like not answering but I was hoarding it, thanks

Anyway I will share a bit of assembly scug lore I was musing on today that I may or may not end up keeping.

Avatar

what is your fav rainworld campaign?

for me its gourmand because outer expanse is the best region in the game

Avatar

Still haven't finished survivor lmao so I can't really answer that. My playthrough got interrupted in like April by a holiday and I haven't got back into it since. At some point I should resume my run and go back to trying to drag two children across the map

Did Chiral Dalliance make the hat herself (like Suns did) post mass ascension or is it a gift from her citizens? (or other ancients/people, whatever they are called here)

Avatar

The original belonged to her head architect, who died before her construction was finished. He left it to her as a gift as it had been a meaningful personal item to him, and he had even somewhat based her colour scheme on it.

Today Dally still wears the original, although it's been through enough repairs and restoration it's kind of a Hat of Theseus situation now. She crafts a new one for each of her selflings, but she keeps the OG hat.

Heya! Was rereading Assembly and I had an idea that's made me consider writing my own Iterator-centric Rain World fic. If I ever do get around to writing it, I'd like to give a shoutout to you as the one who set the whole thing in motion - not just in the author's notes, but in-story. If (and only if) you're amenable to the idea, what would you like your Iterator shoutout character to be named? Ten Spontaneous Assemblies? Celestial Drummer? Or some other name?

Avatar

Hey, thanks for asking! Ten Spontaneous Assemblies sounds just fine to me haha, it's cute. She/they, with umber white and purple as colours, if that's relevant at all 👌 good luck with writing! Glad assembly been inspiring for you!

what's up with there being 10(ish) Sigs?

Covered this a lil in my reblog of Res' post, but-

Iterators in Assembly AU can't do the fandom standard off the string thing, just not how they work, they gotta make lil extra versions of their own mind and slap em in mobile bodies instead. Most iterators find the resulting quasi-plurality kind of uncomfortable, and merge their minds together whenever possible to avoid having multiple separate minds active in the same area. However! Some, like Sig, are actually more comfortable that way, and embrace it as a new part of their identity and self expression.

My Sigs have more selflings than any other iterator, mostly because they were one of the first to have access to the tech and just didn't stop making them. There are many many more than just 10, depending on where you look in the timeline. They also play with their bodily configuration much more than most iterators, making a wide variety of varyingly biological or mechanical bodies to house their selflings in, and enjoying the subtle differences in their personal expression, selfhood, and identity they experience depending on what body they're in. They're just funky little guys 🙏

Avatar

How did you learn about rain world and what compelled you to write an amazing fic about it when you haven't played it?

Also how is your first rain worlding experience going?

Ps. any news about the fic? I miss it

Avatar

I watched vods! I actually watched rain world playthroughs a long time ago and enjoyed the lore and extremely trippy ascension sequence etc, but it wasn't until downpour came out and I watched the new campaigns that I got into the fandom. It's the iterators that compel me mainly in a fandom way and downpour campaigns focus on their storylines to a much greater extent. And then I read a lot of wiki and got into a hyperfocus while in my covid sickbed and wrote like hell. The rest is history.

My game is going ok! Currently in garbage wastes trying to get past what I'm loosely assuming is the gate to shoreline, but I gotta get more karma first. I have been having some issues with scavs murdering my children, which is never ideal.

And yeah trust me I miss the fic too, but ain't much to be done about that. I write for a living and in my current state don't really have anything left in me for hobby writing when the workday is done. I'll be able to write again when I can write again, and that's all can really be said.

Avatar

what the hell is 3sig+?

it’s a very obscure series of characters and Google is not helping. Seems to be connected to you?

Avatar

Lmao yes. it's a Rain World crossover au between my Assembly and @ressioo 's Solar Flare AUs that started as crack and then grew extreme legs. Named thus because it begins with two of my Sigs' selflings explosively and accidentally entering Res' SF universe and meeting his Sig (who we call peepaw for his old man energy). Hence, 3 Sigs. And then +, because it really grew from there.

At this point, I consider it a fairly canon post-story to Assembly, even though it's of high octane crack origin, because I'm way too emotionally attached at this point to do otherwise.
