It was interesting, back in the 60s, listening to the radio and Beatles, Stones, Kinks, Barbra Streisand, Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck (named after a classical composer), all mixed together and a lot of people didn't really care - music was music, and with the exception of schlock-pop (bubble-gum), most of it was pretty good, even the country stuff at the time (Countrypolitain - with strings, horns etc.). Tom's last 3 albums have been a bit on the somber side (though I never expected him to cover a Rolling Stones song (Factory Girl) , and show a different side of Sir Tom.

Drove around in my car for two hours listening to Tom Jones. I now know how a "lady" is defined.

"A while ago I was worried about slipping out of the mainstream, or any stream, so I decided to write a song for Tom Jones. I didn't give him the song, but I did write it. It was a fairly representative Tom Jones song, not a good one, just a representative one." - Randy Newman http://www.songfacts.com/blog/interviews/randy_newman/

All of his music is incredible. The 60's records right up to his recent records. Tom Jones is timeless! ♥
