We all wanted Daniel Jones to succeed when he was made the 6th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. There have been many of us who stuck by him through a lot of high and low moments, many of us who after the Vikings playoff win in 2022 flexed our muscles and said 'I told you he was good!' We celebrated when he signed a 4yr/$160 million contract extension the very next March because we thought he would continue to progress in Daboll's system. That is what makes yesterday so rough for people like me, who were apart of the Daniel Jones hive. Coming into this year I was already prepared to abandon ship at the end of the season, knowing that with his injury concerns and bad play, Jones was not the QB of the future. However, for him to look as bad as he did yesterday sucked, listening to everyone who said he was not good say they were right sucked. For me, this is not about being right or wrong, it is about the fact that we waited so long for him to become a good player that knowing that he is never going to be that hurts. I am always gonna ride for the Giants quarterback, I am not a fan who likes to be negative but after yesterday there is no more claiming that Jones can figure this out because he has regressed. He has regressed from someone who can manage an offense and make enough plays to win a game to someone who cannot even do that. His confidence is gone, while he has not had confidence in his deep ball since his rookie season in 2019, he has no confidence in throwing the ball in the quick game anymore either. He should start next week and he should play better, did you see that Washington defense yesterday? However, in the very real chance he does look as bad next week as he did this past week, it'll be time for the Giants to make a change at quarterback and go to Drew Lock, Lock might not be good but at least he believes he can make those down the field throws. Which sucks because chanting his name as he trotted off the field in the playoff clinching win against the Colts in 2022 was awesome.
