I Think...

The Giants lost a game to the referee's on Monday, not Filthadelphia. I know that the high road, classy take is to say that the missed calls played no role in the outcome of this game. That missed sacks and tackles on defense combined with missed blocks, dropped passes and failed 3rd downs on offemse is what cost the Giants. That's all coach speak, and I'm no coach.

P.S. No, I do not care that the Eagles had more penalties and yards (9 for 65 vs 3 for 13). Let's disgust...

Going into the half, I could go either way on an objectionable delay of penalty game call. If I was an Eagles fan (gross) I would have been hollering that it's a delay of penalty, throw the flag- which likely wouldn't have come given the rarity of which that is called. The cynical Giants fan could argue it should be 17-3 at half because Okereke thought he had a take away. Either way, I don't care, he's never getting it spiked in that situation don't risk the flag coming out. But ref looked ready to throw that delay flag the moment Hurts turned back in bounds.

What can not be argued was the absolute nonsensical false start penalty on JMS and the 4th and 1 at the beginning of the second half. That absolutely killed the momentum the Giants had been building after the Boston Scott fumble, subsequent easy TD and beautiful stop by Wink and the boys. Tyrod had the offense and company moving. Wasn't rolling, but they were looking competitive for the first time all night. The refs killed it for no reason. And it's not like the Giants still would have needed to get that first down, Carter jumped. Unacceptable- we need full time refs, NOW!

What else can not be argued is that Roby never turned his head around and ran through Wan'Dale Robinson. Dear Part Timers, please read the rulebook you're supposed to enforce. I'll pitch in for a set of readers if you need it. Textbook definition of a pass interference. Unacceptable- we need full time refs, NOW!

But wait... There's more!!!!!

On the very last play of the game, Blankenship shoves Barkley out of bounds while the pass was in the air. I know that Ringo cut it off before it got to the back of the endzone, Reed can't just throw Saquon out of bounds. The offensive player, in this case Barkley, legally needs to be allowed to come back and make a play on the ball. A defender contacting him in a manner that impedes him from doing so, which shoving him out of bounds is just that, is textbook pass interference. Unacceptable- we need full time refs, NOW!

This game, this Christmas and the fans were robbed of their untimed down from the 1 yard line, and potential OT. Talk about the all time Christmas miracle just gone to the flag. I thought the NBA was the league where the refs rigged the outcomes...
