An Honest Review from an Outsider:
What an amazing experience it's been so far! It's approaching 1 month since my daughter was enrolled and I'm a very happy mom! Let me start by saying, I never met any of the staff prior to my visit. I didn't even know this school existed. I researched everysingle school in the area to be sure I was making the right decision, I even asked around. I'm more than an anxious mom; I'm an over the top mom! I'm the one that will pack more than one lunch options for my child in her bag amongst other things. Let me comment on the negative comments below. Before I did a tour, I kept the reviews I read in mind. Trust me when I say, on my tour, I looked at everything including the toilet seats in the bathroom.
Update 1: Those accusations are totally untrue. Cameras are in the common areas but I love that for safety reasons. Wouldn't you want extra safety precaution for your children especially with what goes on in the news? It's very smart if you ask me and I love that they have nothing to hide. They need cameras in all schools to help prevent terrorism. What I've observed are happy children at school. Update 2: Yes, they're playground is under construction and will be ready this summer. No big deal since she was enrolled in the fall. The amount of space they have inside to play is bigger than any child care school I've ever been too. I have to exaggerate this! It feels like a playground inside anyway. Update 3: All the staff seem very genuine. My daughter's teacher hugs her like she's her own child and it's so comforting. You try teaching multiple children at once while keeping them engaged and then report back to me. It's a tough job and it takes a special kind of person with the patience to handle young children. (I can barely get my child to take a decent picture. She's the most energetic child; she will run for the entire day. I know the staff need a good night's rest after dealing with my little fireball). Update 4: Watching TV and YouTube all the time?? I don't see a TV to be honest. The day of the tour, kids were broken up into semi groups doing different activities. Some had one on one with the teacher on how to write letters. (There are two teachers in her classroom). The first day of school, children were sitting on the carpet for story time. They were actively listening and engaged in the story while responding to the teacher's questions. Parents must remember that they're children are really only just 2, 3 and 4 year old. This is not a school boot camp for toddlers. They're supposed to also have fun while they learn. The school offers additional programs: piano lessons, sculpting, dance etc. They are also learning different languages: Spanish, Mandarin. This was very important to me.
It feels like a fun learning school, not so much a daycare for babysitting. Children are taught to develop independent principles that they will need when they move to the next level in their lives. Parents are also encouraged to be academically apart of their children's lives: Come by and observe and even participate; if you have a skill or trade, share with others.
When it's pick up time, I have to chase my daughter to put on her coat so I can take her home. She does not fight me in the morning when I tell her, "let's go to school." She loves her school and this makes me so motivated to actively be apart as well! From the bottom of my heart, thank you to the entire staff at Applecore Learning for all you do! I absolutely recommend. 10 Stars!...

My family moved to Highland Park during the Pandemic when childcare was going through a crisis. Yellowbrick is an institution of the town. It has been one of the longest open small businesses.Neighbors and other parents recommended Yellowbrick to us. We had to be out on a waiting list. It was well worth the wait. Children are cared for like family members. Each staff member contributes to a warm, nurturing environment where children are free to learn together. Reading, pre-math, arts are all incorporated through active play instruction. ...

"We made the best decision in choosing Pudding Stone Day care for our little girl. She has been attending since September 2016 and it has by far exceeded all of our expectations. Choosing a day care in the first place was painstakingly difficult for us. We wereadamant about avoiding a larger day care setting since it was her first time being away from us and us away from her. The Pudding Stone Day Care is perfect. It's small and intimate with all the qualities and perks of a bigger day care.
Kate who is licensed and has a degree in child development is absolutely amazing with the children that she cares for. She loves and treats each child like her own.
Every day is a different educational activity: from singing to art, from stories and circle time to tea parties and outdoor play. Every week a different letter is leant with lots of creative art work that focuses on that letter. The day care itself is very well organized, neat and clean. Actually one of the things we noticed when we visited the first time was there was no odor/smell like some of the other places we visited. Kate provides healthy, organic (when possible) breakfast, lunch and snack is provided. She also is big on teaching kids manners and politeness and helping in potty training.
Kate has three assistants. Ms. Gayle, Ms. Margaret and Ms. Nester who are all absolutely amazing and loving and who go above and beyond every day. They all show tremendous patience and love to all the kids with warm hugs.
Since going to Pudding Stone, our daughter has grown in more ways than we could have possibly imagine. She's loves going to 'school' as she calls it and loves each and every one of her carers. She has thrived and developed so much and we attribute it all to Kate, her assistants and The Pudding Stone Care.
We would not hesitate in recommending The Pudding Stone Day Care to anyone that is looking for a warm, safe day care environment for their child...
I offer a Home Away From Home for your child. I am a mom of four myself (ages 15 - 21) and all children I care for become part of our family, even long after I stop caring for them on a regular basis. I have over 30 years experience caring for children other then my own, the last 6 years of whichhave been full-time. I have glowing references from all parents along the way. My promise to all parents whose children I care for is that I will care for your child as if they were my own; I know no other way. At the end of each day, you will go home with a detailed list of what and when they ate and took naps.
My working hours are 8 am - 6 pm; however, I am willing to extend that occasionally for $10/hour, when the need arises. For the last 2 years I have cared full-time for a now 2 year old, and recently welcomed his brother into our group when he was only 8 weeks old. (Note: I also cared for their older brothers, who are now 8 and 6, for 2 years when they were similar ages). The 3rd child I care for is a 2 1/2 year old girl, who comes to me 1 - 3 varying days each week. Therefore, I have 1 - 2 openings.
My weekly rates are $275 full-time for infants on bottle/baby food (which you provide) and $300 full-time for toddlers and older (includes breakfast, lunch, snack and all milk). Daily rates are $60 for infants and $65 for toddlers and older (food as detailed above). I will not care for more than 4/5 children at one time, with the exception of a 4 year old who I watch during the school year from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
I look forward to welcoming your child into our Home Away From Home....

"Eileen watched two of our children in our home a couple years ago. The youngest was 2 and the oldest was 5. She'd watch the 2 year old all day and get the older one ready for the bus late morning bus that would take her to afternoon kindergarten. My girlsabsolutely *loved* Miss Eileen. She played with them non-stop and they had a whole set of games that they came up with, including a pretend game where she was the baby and they called her "CC." I would come home to elaborate hair styles (sometimes it was Eileen's hair that the girls had done!), stories about tea parties, or to hear about their trips to the park or museum. Sometimes she'd bring her younger children, if they had no school, so we also got to see how lovely her children were and watch our kids become friends. Indeed, Eileen's boys never hesitated to play with two little girls, which shows how Eileen makes a place for fun and caring wherever she goes. We moved from NJ, but have stayed in touch. Eileen is absolutely correct when she says she treats the children she watches as if they are part of her family. And she and her family are wonderful....
Hello! I have a Master's degree in Education Counseling and many years of experience working with children. I try to keep my family childcare small as I focus on different activities during the day and want to be able to offer high quality care for your little one. We often have trips to the localzoo, libraries and parks. We have a wonderful swing set in our backyard, we have a bouncy house/jumper for the older kids, and all kinds of water fun during the hot summer days. I am a stay-at-home mom in Clark, New Jersey to my 5-year-old son and a 2 year old girl. My son will be attending kindergarten in September, so it will mostly be my daughter and I at home. I have very high expectations of childcare and therefore I myself decided to stay home with our kids. However, in order to stay on top of my professional career, I do work part-time as a psychotherapist in Cranford. My childcare is typically for families with flexible schedules or looking for part-time care. I speak fluent Polish!!! Cost is typically $10-$12 an hour. All Clark residents welcome. I'm only minutes away from Valley Road school. We also have a cat and a dog....
