By itself, the Dymo 280 is a great product. You have to make sure the cassette is actually snapped in, as that was a hindrance at first until I figured it out. It has 3 fonts, 6 sizes, and 8 border options. It prints really well.On the software end is where things get tricky. There are reports of the software not working on Windows 10 or 11. I experienced such problems on my Windows 11 computer. Windows picked up the printer, the Dymo Connect software did not. I downloaded the latest driver, according to instructions, and saw in the lower left-hand corner "Virtual Printer," instead of seeing the Dymo 280 when plugging it in.After much trial and error to get the software working, I eventually found the solution in uninstalling the latest version (1.4.6) and downloading and installing the older version (1.4.5). The "Virtual Printer" is instead replaced with my printer saying "Disconnected." When I plugged in the printer (and made sure the printer was ON), it changed to "Connected" and proceeded to print accordingly. I hope my solution helps folks that are struggling to get the software to work for them.

The Dymo LabelManager 280 is an outstanding machine. The construction is solid with no flimsy parts that may break with normal use. The screen is large, clear, and easy to read. The buttons around the screen have a nice click to them, and the buttons on the main body are rubber and feel solid. The unit feels good in the hands, and even those with smaller hands should have no trouble typing. The cutter is excellent, the best I've seen on any Dymo. It cuts cleanly and doesn't wast a lot of tape on each end. One or two read-throughs of the manual were all it took to learn the machine. It is well-written and will answer any questions. I found the menus easy to understand and navigate. It is rechargeable and comes with a charging cord. I gave it a full charge when I bought it in August, and here it is December and I've not had to recharge it since. I haven't had a chance to link it to a laptop to use the software, because it does everything I need it to do the way it is. Overall this was an excellent buy and I would recommend it for anyone looking for an inexpensive, well-built label maker that will provide years of use.

Someone commented that it wastes about 1/2 inch. That may be true but it's only 1/4 inch on each side of the label so it's not that bad. The only tricky thing really is peeling the label off the back. As you can see there two pieces on the back that need to be peeled off. You have to bend the label just right to get it started. I haven't even begun to try and do it from the computer yet, because it's so easy to just type it up on the maker itself and hit print. I haven't been able to get any larger print than what you see.
