Důrazně se zapojoval do současných debat ve fotografickém tisku a především o legitimitě "umělecké fotografie", zejména o spojení více samostatných obrazů do jednoho velkého celku. (cs)

- Henry Peach Robinson (Ludlow, Shropshire, 9 de julio de 1830 - Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, 21 de febrero de 1901) fue un fotógrafo inglés. Comenzó su carrera artística como pintor de la escuela prerrafealista, profesión que abandonó para dedicarse a la fotografía, abriendo un estudio fotográfico en 1857. Inicialmente aplicó a sus imágenes las ideas de la fotografía academicista aportando un poco más de lirismo (influencia del prerrafaelismo). Su obra más célebre, Los Últimos Instantes, 1858, es considerado el primer fotomontaje de la historia (cada una de las personas que aparecen corresponde a un negativo distinto). Muestra a una joven moribunda en representación teatral, donde nada queda de los aspectos documentales o testimoniales propios de la fotografía. Al igual que Oscar Gustav Rejlander recurre al fotomontaje con el empleo de varios negativos (en esta obra un mínimo de 4), pero sin embargo su obra tiene más que ver con el romanticismo (algunos críticos señalan que el fondo y el personaje del padre recuerdan al paisajista alemán Friederich). Siguiendo las ideas de la fotografía academicista trata el tema de la muerte con el objetivo de pretender su control (representación ideal de la realidad para su manejo). Perteneció a la y, posteriormente, al Linked Ring de la que fue cofundador. Las ideas que habrían de provocar el nacimiento de esta última, se encontraban en su obra teórica Efecto Pictorial en Fotografía, 1869, la cual supone un referente básico del pictorialismo fotográfico. - Henry Peach Robinson (Ludlow, 9 luglio 1830 – Royal Tunbridge Wells, 21 febbraio 1901) fu un fotografo britannico, pioniere del fotomontaggio e del movimento pittorialista. Intraprese la professione di libraio e, influenzato dalle opere di William Turner, si interessò di pittura. Nel 1850, guidato da , scoprì la fotografia a cui si appassionò e nel 1857 abbandonò la sua attività per aprire un laboratorio fotografico. Si occupò del ritocco fotografico dei ritratti, a cui applicava colori o correggeva imperfezioni direttamente sul positivo. Insoddisfatto della resa delle pellicole dell'epoca, utilizzò estesamente la tecnica della per rendere correttamente il paesaggio. Inoltre utilizzò più negativi per comporre un'unica fotografia, come nella famosa Fading Away, dove l'immagine era composta da cinque negativi. Si sposò nel 1859, affermando però che prima era la fotografia, poi la moglie. Nel 1864 dovette abbandonare la pratica di fotografo a causa dei problemi di salute causati dai materiali chimici utilizzati nel processo fotografico. Mantenne vivo il suo interesse pubblicando nel 1868 il saggio “Pictorial Effect in Photography, Being Hints on Composition and Chiaroscuro for Photographers”. Nel 1891 finanziò la fondazione del circolo fotografico Linked Ring. (it)
