- Johann Ludwig Maximilian Dortu (* 29. Juni 1826 in Potsdam; † 31. Juli 1849 in Freiburg im Breisgau) nahm in der Revolution von 1848/49 am bewaffneten Kampf für die Errichtung einer Republik in Deutschland teil. Bekannt wurde Dortu als Urheber der Bezeichnung „Kartätschenprinz“ für den Prinzen von Preußen, den späteren König und Kaiser Wilhelm I., und wegen seiner Hinrichtung durch die preußische Militärjustiz. - Max Dortu (1826-1849) was a German-born revolutionary democrat. He took part in the Berlin uprising of March 18, 1848 and participated in the Baden-Palatinate uprising of 1849. Following the suppression of the uprisings, the Prussian intervention forces in Baden eventually captured Dortu in Freiburg. He was tried by court martial and executed by a firing squad. (en)
