Airstream - the good and the bad?
We are considering the purchase of an Airstream camper/trailer and vehicle. We would eventually like to cross the country for a bit when my wife and I retire in a few years. Never owned a camper before. Thought we might try to get used to a camper and get it partially paid for it before retiring. [more inside]
Movie Trailers Website That Doesn't Suck
Welp, trailers.apple.com sucks now. Where can I go for a simple, up-to-date chronological listing of movie trailers with wide coverage (i.e. pretty much every movie that will get a US cinematic release) that is uncluttered, ad-free, gets right to the point, and doesn't require an app? [more inside]
Who sings "Watch Me" in the "This is Us" series finale trailer?
Who sings "Watch Me" in this series finale trailer for "This is Us?" I have not been able to find and credits for the trailer and Shazam has nothing. There were two other versions of the song used during the series. My gut tells me it was something Mandy Moore recorded for the show and was never published. Any ideas?
Moving a boat: help me break analysis paralysis
Hi all,
I have a powerboat that is in a slip at a marina. I also have the matching trailer at a rented parking spot at a self-storage place. This was a project boat, and unlike most project boats, I actually completed the project! [more inside]
Down mountain interstate in a U-Haul while towing a car - OK/not OK?
Is this a terrible idea filter: Towing my Mazda3 Hatchback behind a 15-foot U-Haul truck through the Appalachian mountains, on the Interstate mainly, as part of a "moving all my stuff" trek from Chicago to NC? I've never towed a car, and the idea of going downhill at interstate speeds with a trailer seems... risky. No? [more inside]
Bicycle cargo trailer?
I may be in the market for a commercial grade bicycle cargo trailer, does anyone have experience with one? [more inside]
I'd like to secure a trailer - Help me with the analysis paralysis
I'm taking a trip to a large gathering in a few weeks and like every year, someone has a smash and grab pulled on their cargo trailer, or, last year, they stole the entire trailer outright. Part of me is looking at something like Spytech's GL300MA, but another part of me is thinking that something more like a basic alarm system that goes off if the trailer is moved or the doors are opened might me more effective in preventing theft to begin with. Another part of me is sure that there's a product that does all this available in one package but everything I seem to be finding is more geared toward my commercial fleet than my trailer full of camping gear and the like.
Suggestions for art-house game trailers
I'm looking for trailers for highly artistic, atmospheric exploration games, first person and non-violent. I have seen games like Everything but I'm thinking of something more human. [more inside]
EMS-48 mobility scooter with Challenger mobility scooter trailer added
I purchased a used but in great shape Cozy Trike EMS-48 mobility scooter to get her out of the house (she doesn't drive) and eventually ride it outside of our neighborhood to the store or park. I read on this forum in a post: "Electric vehicles (cars, bikes, golf carts, electric bikes, scooters) are legal on non-arterial roads with a posted speed limit of 35mph or lower. Electric carts (golf) and non-plated electric or motor vehicles are never allowed on arterial roads (streets rated at 40mph and higher).". When I spoke to the local Mundelein, IL police department on the phone they were not clear in understanding this rule or law. [more inside]
Shikibuton + mattress topper -- one cover, or two?
I recently got a 3" shikibuton mattress and a 3" wool mattress topper for a sleeping setup in my small camper trailer. This will be my sleeping quarters for an extended sabbatical / camping trip. My question: Should I get one zippered cotton cover and put both the shikibuton and the wool topper inside of it? Or should I put each item in its own separate zippered cover? [more inside]
Gift recs to kit out a small travel trailer?

Trailer and trailer hitch basics
We have a 2013 Subaru Forester, and I would like to get a little utility trailer to transport small equipment (mower, snow blower), take stuff to the dump, and to take home bulky purchase from Home Depot (e.g., insulation batts, mulch, plywood sheets). If I'm buying a trailer, I'd likely get an open bed and stay off highways, but I'd like the ability to rent a trailer I might vacation with. A bike rack is also possible. I know absolutely nothing else about trailers and hitches. Help? [more inside]
Tears of Joy or Regret after Purchasing a Teardrop Trailer?
My husband and I are thinking about purchasing a teardrop trailer to tow behind our Subaru Outback, primarily to allow more weekend outdoor adventuring with our baby. We've never done the trailer thing before. Good idea or bad idea? [more inside]
Where can I safely park a work trailer in SF?
My (small) SF tech company is purchasing a trailer to be our mobile lab for field testing. We don't have anywhere in our building that we can store it, so we have to park it somewhere else. Our office is in the Mission and parking anything of perceived value on the street is not a good idea. Where can we park it? [more inside]
Who's doing the marketing for the upcoming Deadpool movie?
Is it Fox's interior people? An outside ad agency? Several agencies? The posters and tv/internet spots have been consistently hilarious with a particular tone, so I'm really curious, but can't find any answers via Googling.

Trailer/RV living in Ventura?

Cross-country move with small cargo trailer: terrible or great idea?
My wife and I are moving cross country from Denver to Orlando, FL. We have two cars and a 1400 sq. ft. house full of furniture and stuff. We have looked into renting trucks and ABF U-pack and they all seem prohibitively expensive, eg. in the few thousand dollar range. Plus, if we rent a truck we have to trailer our other car. Our latest idea is to rent a small U-haul trailer, get rid of A LOT of our stuff, and trailer out there what we need in two or three trips. We have until about June 1st to be completely moved. However, the U-Haul trailers are heavy --about 1000 lbs-- and our car can only tow 1500lbs (2014 Subaru Crosstrek). This doesn't leave much room for things. Our latest idea is to buy a second-hand cargo trailer, about 5x8 ft, for $1500 or so, and use that. The trailers we have looked at weigh more like 700lbs. Then, when we are done with the trailer, we can sell it at a small loss. Is this a terrible idea? Has anyone pulled a trailer with such a small car? How much stuff can we carry and not exceed our 800lb limit?
Distinctive Voodoo Child cover on "Hitman: Agent 47" trailer
The trailer for the new "Hitman: Agent 47" film is a rather distinctive cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Child", as found here; however I can't find it online, or even anything close... any ideas?
What music is being used in this trailer?

Give me the best short bursts of horror/VHS/halloween nostalgia you got.
I'm putting together a Halloween marathon party this weekend, with a few horror movies (about evenly split between good and cheesy selections), and lots of video interludes in between that speak to a sense of pre-2000 horror/VHS/halloween nostalgia. I need your help on the interludes.

Looking for a specific, recent post-apocalypse film
I watched a trailer on Hulu maybe 2-3 months ago for a film whose setup went something like this: A bunch of people come to a dinner party that looks possibly contentious. In the middle of the dinner, some kind of world-altering event occurs. These people now need to survive together. It seemed like the film was more interested in human dynamics than zombies/bandits etc.
It looked fairly well produced with a few semi-recognizable b/c list actors. For the life of me, I cannot find the movie or any trace of it. Does it sound familiar to anyone out there?
Which of my cars should I put a trailer hitch on?
We have a 4x6 trailer. It's pretty light weight. We need to put a hitch on one of our two cars in order to use it. Is there any mechanical (or other) advantage to using one car over the other? [more inside]

Seeking space saving techniques for RV living
My husband and I moved into an RV last summer and sold or gave away 80% of our belongings. I am looking for ways to make the most of our space for the 20% we kept. It's not that we're out of room, but I feel like I am not doing this in an optimal fashion. [more inside]
I'm looking for that cheesy inspiring movie trailer music
I am looking for examples for that cheesy "inspirational movie" music that you might see in a Hollywood movie trailer. Usually it accompanies some kind of tagline like, "He didn't know that helping one dog...would send him on the journey...of a lifetime." One example is here at 20 seconds of this trailer. That stirring music that is meant to emotionally manipulate you - can you help me find various versions of it? Thanks.
Trailer brake controller
Hello Metafilterites,
I'm trying to buy a small trailer and that requires a brake controller for my truck. Currently it doesn't have one. I have an option to go with the OEM Ford brake controller ($350+) or an aftermarket one ($100+). Do you know what the difference between the two might be? [more inside]
It's off to the mountains we go...towing a trailer!
I'll be towing a UHaul trailer 4500 km across Canada next week with my 2005 manual Toyota Rav4 (4 cylinder), including across 2 mountain ranges. As a relative newbie to towing, how do I not doom my transmission or new shiny vehicle to a early demise? [more inside]
When can I see the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Trailer?
I was among the unfortunate many who was not able to attend to Doctor Who panel at SDCC 2013 and thus did not have the pleasure of viewing the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Trailer; I know Steven Moffat made it abundantly clear that he did not want to see anyone leaking the trailer, so I'm not really expecting to see any pirated versions.
I guess the question I'm trying to ask is: When will the BBC allow the trailer to be public?
I'm looking for videos that induce frisson and make you want to explore.
I'm making a list of videos that create a very particular kind of frisson: the feeling that the world is a big place filled with experiences to have and explorations to take part in. Have some good examples inside - would love more. [more inside]
Literary novel with trailers joined in a circle
Identify this book. Literary novel, probably a first novel, published between 1994 and 1997, written by a guy who had taught writing at Harvard. The only thing I remember in it is an obsessive character in the desert who has welded multiple trailers or mobile homes in a circle so he can obsessively walk in circles inside them. [more inside]

Truck or trailer?
Keep the pickup or get a trailer? I bought a Ford F-150 pickup truck about 9 months ago for using out at a rural property I co-own. It's been helpful for moving materials, towing travel trailers out there, picking up straw, transporting heavy machinery, but I feel like I might be able to get by with my Subaru and a 6x8' or so utility trailer. They have a trailer but I can't have it
I need to move an apartment's worth of things from Seattle to Dallas, including a vehicle. A U-Haul 5'x8' trailer would be awesome but they don't rent to Ford Explorer drivers. I have a Ford Explorer. There don't appear to be any other trailer rental companies in the Seattle area. Are there any other options? Less than $500 would be great--the U-Haul trailer I can't have is $321--but I'm open to all ideas that are somewhere in the ballpark. [more inside]
