Extension, or browser that gives you better MetaFilter link reading?

I don't know how to describe this exactly, and it is sort of a general issue I have with webpages, but is there a better way to read posts that link to multiple articles? [more inside]

email link in PDF I made not working on PC

on a pdf created from INDD, I've added several link-outs to web pages, there are also a few email addresses. On my Mac, upon click, those emails set up an outgoing email populated with that email address in Mail. Client is saying when he clicks it (on a PC) "just opens a browser". Is there a method to making the email links work on a PC?

How do you share a curated list of links to articles these days?

Is there a great and easy-to-use service for sharing a visually-appealing curated list of links to news articles these days, by making a public link and sharing the URL? Many services seem to be geared toward sharing with friends on social media, but I want to be able to share with people that I am not linked to on social media. Bonus points if the presentation is visually appealing--like Pocket or Pinterest--rather than just a bland textual list.

Looking for an excellent, wide-ranging medical blog/newsletter

I love reading The Prepared -- a great manufacturing and engineering-focused email newsletter with lots of fascinating links to articles, videos, and other content across an extremely broad range of topics. I'm hoping to find a similar newsletter (or blog / link aggregator) but with a broad medical/human health focus (or perhaps life science generally). Any recommendations? [more inside]

How to make an index of links for others to browse

I used to have a tumblr theme + plug in that created an index out of the post tags. I liked being able to index recipes and such, and liked that I could forward the whole site to others. I want to do this again, but can't find the theme, and the plug-in I was using is no longer. Alas. Any recommendations on how to do this?

Force outlook to linkify an odd TDL

My work has started using a niche TLD. They aren't using a www subdomain, instead links are this.domain.butt (not mad about it no). These aren't autmatically converted to links by outlook when I mail, can I force it somehow with a setting?

Uploading Links to Google Free Webpage

Keep a list of links (accessible anywhere) and record date of last visit

I want to keep a list of links that I (and only I) can access from anywhere. And I want it to record (and ideally, let me sort on) the last day I clicked that link. So basically, bookmarks, and when I click the link, it updates the lastclick field and shows me a table with the bookmark and last-clicked data and let's me sort. I'm thinking maybe google docs? Maybe google docs+IFTTT somehow? How?

Browser extension to show newsletter link destinations?

Are there any Chrome/Opera browser extensions that let you hover over the links in email newsletters and see the ultimate destination of the link? Generally newsletter links are wrapped in some kind of redirect URL so the sender can track which ones are clicked - but as it turns out this makes it way less likely that I will follow any link. Seems like it should be possible for an extension to do the following for me and show the destination but I haven't been able to find such a thing.

What is preventing me from backing out of this website?

I sometimes encounter websites that won't let me use the back button to escape them. In fact, each time I click them opens another tab which adds more time. Most recently, this one - http://www.pbs.org/ombudsman/feedback/. Why does this happen? Do webmasters know it happens? Is it a technical problem or intentional somehow?

Detailed Tech Tales!

Based on this amazing comment, I've been hungry for more detailed stories of how (really any) tech stuff was designed, implemented, tested - written in an entertaining fashion. Webdev stuff, hardware stuff, software stuff, anything really, as long as it's well-written and pretty detailed (meaning probably not much from The Daily WTF but links to specific pieces there are ok, like the wonderful MUMPS story.) I especially want stories of a million things going wrong. Thanks!!

Easy-to-use hyperlinks in printed media?

I'm involved in writing a book that will published in both electronic and print versions. The book will be semi-academic, and will provide many (hyper)links to electronic sources. While this is easy to do in the electronic version, what is an easy way for the reader to retrieve a link to something in the hard copy? Possible solutions would be to print QR codes in the print version for every link, using Layar, or simply list a short number/code which would then correspond to the link when looked up on a separate website. Do you have any other suggestions? Again, the goal is to make it as easy as possible for the reader of a print copy to dig deeper into the other sources. I'm just looking for ideas now, assume that there is no limitation on cost or manpower. Thanks in advance!

And sometimes the blonde likes to wear...

I can't believe I'm burning a question on this, but in the last few months, one of those cartoon style text and picture... thingies was going around Facebook. It featured a women who was lamenting people who expect there to be guy and a girl in same-sex relationships, and (I think) ended in a panel that said "And sometimes the blonde likes to wear the strap-on." Does anyone have a link to it? (As y'all can imagine, while the Google results for this particular query are highly interesting, they're not very useful to the particular question at hand. Thanks, all!)

Linking Social Networks

I have been combing the social networks I use trying to find a way to link two of them. It's not a big list; Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Soundcloud, and Wordpress. I know about IFTTT and Hootsuite, but I'd prefer to not use third party apps if possible. Facebook and Twitter of course, connect to almost everything. But I'm also trying to figure out how stuff I upload to Soundcloud can be posted on LinkedIn. And likewise, I can't get LinkedIn posts to show up my Facebook business page. Is it just not possible w/o 3rd party apps that will make posts I don't need? If there is a way, can somebody tell me?

Website's links suddenly broken in IE8

My company's website is having a bizarre experience: our links have stopped working, suddenly, in IE8 only. They focus but don't trigger the target URL to open. Naturally, most of our clients use IE8. No changes have been made recently. The site is DNN-based, and we've opened a support ticket with DotNetNuke, but I'm stumped. What should I be looking at? Memail me if seeing the site would be helpful and I can give you the URL.
