Castlevania: The Adventure, published in Japan as Dracula Densetsu (ドラキュラ伝説? lit. "Dracula Legend") is an platform game developed and published by Konami in 1989. It is the first Castlevania title for the Game Boy, and is the first of three Castlevania games released for that system. Set a century before the events of the original Castlevania, the player controls an ancestor of Simon Belmont named Christopher Belmont who goes on a quest to defeat Dracula. Christopher would appear once more in in Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge.
The Adventure features numerous differences with the main Castlevania games, such as removing the sub-weapon system and allowing players to replenish health with heart-shaped tokens (hearts were previously used as ammunition for sub-weapons). Castlevania: The Adventure was re-released in Konami GB Collection Vol. 1 in Japan (as a Super Game Boy compatible game) and Europe (as a Game Boy Color cartridge). A remake titled Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth was released as a WiiWare game for the Wii. The original game is included in the Castlevania Anniversary Collection, which was released in 2019.
