I dunno if you noticed but regardless of whether Achilles got married to Deidamia before his disguise at the palace of her father or after and their union happened while Achilles lived there; Neoptolemus lived for a little while with his mother, a cross-dressing father and on occasion with the help of Patroclus ~~and his grandfather~~.

There was a post here talked about how the death of Hector is basically Achilles unalive himself, as Hector at that time wore the armor of Achilles.

I don’t remember much how that post extended on that idea (pls send me the link if you know which post I’m talking about), but I totally buy into this narrative. And would like to give my two cents here.

Hector could be considered as the personification of “Achilles in another life”. He was living the very life that Achilles refused: a life of family, with his wife, newborn son, a father, and a kingdom to inherit and rule over, which was very similar to Achilles’ situation the moment he was recruited. He would live that very life till old age, if the Greek did not descend on their soils.

Hector died also partially because he chose the same thing as Achilles ten years ago: glory and honor. He, just as his nemesis, turned down the opportunity to another path, to play it safe and so suffered the same fate.
