Wolfgang Voigt & Gabriel Szatan explore: GAS by Boiler Room
published onIn this talk, Boiler Room's Gabriel @szatan sat down with @wolfgang_voigt to discuss his landmark GAS project – some of the greatest ambient / dub techno / experimental electronic music of all time. It was recorded live in front of an audience during a Classic Album Sundays session at London's Brilliant Corners, November 2016. From the dark tones of 1997's "Zauberberg", through to 2000's glistening "Pop", the music Voigt recorded under his GAS moniker remains perhaps his most beloved and influential of a long career. Contemporary geniuses such as Tim Hecker, The Field, Burial, Donato Dozzy, William Basinski and more all carry the GAS hallmarks. Hear all the music broken down by Voigt during this rare public appearance. For further listening, four classic GAS releases were compiled in a boxset, released last year – available here: http://www.kompakt.fm/releases/box Since the talk took place, Voigt has announced a return to touring and a long-awaited follow-up, "Narkopop" – order here: https://KompaktRecords.lnk.to/Narkopop Thanks to @kompakt and Classic Album Sundays for making this happen.
