Amata Kabua (November 17, 1928 – 20 December 1996) was a Marshallese politician. He was the first President of the Marshall Islands from 1979 to 1996.
Kabua died in office after a long illness, on December 20, 1996, in Honolulu, Hawaii, aged 68.[1][2]
